aka their main players are a lot older
Kerry may have been as fit as they could get.
Thatâs an opinion, not a fact.
Agree with thatâŚbut they were relying on too many fellas over 35.
Kerry also lost as the âgoochâ is an imposter
Well spotted.
But when you have a bit of insight into whats done or not done and you understand what happens to players when they fatigue then its a more educated opinion.
Thats true. But thats who yhey have.
Maybe, but i donât believe that.
Theyâve v strong underage teams for the last couple of years.
Kerry will be dominant again in 3/4 yearsâŚitâs all cyclical.
Were they though? AOM and Goich were the only old ones who started.
Ya if they put Jack OâConnor back in there they will win one or two in next 4. Probably not bext year though.
Some of thos years Minors are superb. Best i have seen in a while.
Their minors are v highly regarded down there and OâConnor will get another crack of the whip Iâd say.
Dublin have to be admired thoughâŚtheyâve put the bar up another notch.
Lads,
Using the latest digital forensics tools Iâve been able to retrieve all of @anon98850436 's screenshot. @caoimhaoin , youâre up against it nowâŚ
Kerry were fittest team Dublin have played. Went toe to toe with Dublin and looked like winning with ten minutes to go, five to go it was still up for grabs. If foul called on body check then maybe they win. Connolly point at end was class - very few players score that.
Their skills and decision making in last 20 was well off on the norm. Great sign of not being conditioned enough physically or mentally. 2nd half for a long period was one way traffic, was it 13-5 in the end?
Repeated execution of skill to the highest level you are capable of is the reason for Conditioning. The uneducated think its fitness. And they put fitness in one box and skill in another. Yet its the same person, the same body. It makes no sense. The main reason for aerobic conditioning is to build an efficient aerobic system that will help you recover faster from high intensity bouts of exercise/play.
But it can easily be over done to actually blunt skills and cognitive ability. Thats what alot of the charlatans and coaches have been doing. Thats possibly what Fitzmaurice did. Who knows. Certainly from what i know they did and some of the publically available insights they gave, they were doing some silly conditioning.
Their football stuff is probably excellent. Their tactics top notch. But game is different now.
And i would bot say for sure they were the fittest.
Yeah agree with all that. First thing to go when tired is the mind etc
However when playing Dublin who have a bench they bring in to refresh third of a team you cannot
Afford to pace yourself. Kerry looked like a team who felt fit enough to run with and compete Dublin. Even pushing up on kick outs shows a level of belief in fitness.
I was at Donegal and Kerry games and difference in running from both teams was night and day. Kerry were comfortable running and defending high up pitch. Donegal always went back to relative safety of their 40.
Dublin are definitely fittest team - cooper and McMahon are unreal - but players like Connolly and Kilkenny are once in a generation talent.
This is the standard that @Rocko and @Bandage demanded. You are an interesting poster, you are also a fruitcake but thatâs besides the point.
The lads you are battling here are repetitive bores.
I think it was around Tuesday when @caoimhaoin got around to referring to Cian OâNeill when on Sunday he was declaring Dublin the best team ever. Now, however, itâs Kerryâs fitness deficiencies which definitively lost them the game. He had a pre-conceived notion that Kerry were terribly prepared based on âinsightâ (conveniently knowing someone who gave him that impression based on his posts here) but that wasnât borne out on the pitch. So wait a couple of days and then get back to dropping in mentions of his assumptions about Kerryâs poor preparations while bigging up OâNeill at the same time. The failure to acknowledge he was wrong about Fitzmauriceâs preparations shows a lack of class and itâs sign of Kevinâs immaturity and stubbornness too. Itâs a real lack of character progression to still be carrying on like this at his age and it can only be related to his unhappy personal circumstances.
Incorrect. I praised Kerry for making a game out of it. Their nous and preperation tactically was spot on and tgey engineered 2 great goals. And thats what they backed. Their conditioning, or inferior, told in the end. I pointed this out months ago when i heard what they were doing. I even pisted up an article where they were blowing on about it.
Also i praised them for getting iver their Dublin hump and played without fear. Managemebt deserve all that credit with the players too. But they also need some critque. And the main difference is preperation. Now if its money or facilities or running or whatever thats a deeper argument. But that is very clearly the difference.
@TheUlteriorMotive i would argue they convinced themselves of it, but simply didnât know where they had to get to. They talked about fitness an awful lot this year. No doubt the message was there from management. I am sure they ran hard in training (i know this for a fact), but was it layered and condusive to matching the dubs? I would say absolutely not. And thats my educated opinion.
On stars, once in a generation type players, true enough. But they are getting the max out of themselves too. I other counties Connolly wouldnât be on the squad.
