Kevin myers- an alright sort

That’s the narrative but he is tfking in the real world. The use of the second word below here is purely designed to rile the eternally offended- top class wumming.

baying muezzins of social media hourly pronounce the end of someone’s reputation in the merciless perpetuity of the internet.

Whether you agree with him or not he has a lovely turn of phrase.

Our English teacher used to photocopy his articles and make us read them. He did have a great way with words, but he’s an unmerciful cunt and so was she

The ‘twitter mob’ is usually a handful of people. At the most a few hundred. They are in the main needy cunts who would be best avoided in real life. For some reason their voices are given hugely disproptionate weight even by their opponents like ironmoth. Youd often see the media make some big deal about a twitter storm or someone getting abuse on twitter or a ‘great reaction’ on twitter when it was really 6 or 7 people tweeting. If 6 or 7 people in the whole country said something in various pubs no one would give a fuck but that’s basically what it is.

J.K. Rowling’s offensive ‘wumben’ tweet had almost 34,000 retweets with comments.

Bots.

Jaysus that’s me told. It was more a general point anyway. I genuinely can’t understand how a fella like you or me would care passionately enough one way or the other about this type of issue to be tweeting about it or caring what others tweet. Both are just looking to be outraged.

I care about ‘cancel culture’. I think it’s the most toxic form of virtue signalling.

I know you do and sure each to their own :+1:

What is it? How does it affect you?

Google it.

We can talk after you’ve at least taken the first steps of understanding what it is.

Who’s ever been cancelled in Ireland?

It’s subjective surely

What’s subjective about, for example, people calling for Jordan Peterson’s visiting fellowship to Cambridge to be rescinded?

I don’t give a fuck and you do?

How the fuck is it subjective when someone is fired for expressing their opinions?

He doesn’t give a fuck. He’s alright, Jack.
