Have you seen much of young Murray in Thurles. Ive only seen him once. Highly spoken of. The youngest Mullen is supposed to be the real deal also

I have to say im a little disappointed in Billy Drennans career trajectory so far.Yeah hes deadly accurate from placed balls and is excellent at the handpass but it seems to me that hes lacking that bit of sparkle that the likes of Carey,The 2 Richies etc had when they burst on to the scene.They would have made you stand up and take notice.
Billy doesnt seem to have the stardust for a lad fast tracked onto the senior team and taking the frees at that age.
Different times, I know but its worrying.

He’s the most overrated player I’ve ever seen.

Both are the real deal.

Murray was one of Thurles CBS best players in the Harty this year as a 15 year old.

What I’m saying is that we should be beating the likes of those clubs. I know we aren’t where we should be, I know for a town our size we should be doing so much better, but we’re not. But as you said, some good young lads coming through. But it needs time.

Group A is a the group of death. Johnstown still intermediate, unrale. Makes me ill seeing the clubs that are up there and where the 'Lockes sit right now. Not saying that Callan shouldn’t be Junior, very worthy of their position right now and won’t go up for at least another 5 years, but we have to be as good as B&W, T/R, Conahy, Lisdowney, Fenians and Dunnamaggin.

The Lockes are no where near as good as all those clubs you mention, ye wouldn’t come within 40 points of Dunnamaggin…LisdowneyConahy,Fenians etc would all beat ye by 15 to 20 points…did you catch any Lockes games in 2023…it was a horror show my friend… Graignamanagh 2-20 John Lockes 0-04 was the score in the knockout 1st round Graig went on to lose by 13 points in the next round.
It’s gonna be at least the 5 Years you mention,some good 13-16 year olds coming in fairness.

Drennan is a grand player but is a classic example of people bigging up an underage freetaker based on huge tallies. Ronan Lynch-syndrome.

Drennan is a serious freetaker tbf and well able to take a score but he hasn’t shown anything at underage to say that he’d ever be a DJ or a Richie Power, and it’d be wrong to expect that of him. From what I remember, Timmy Clifford was the mercurial forward of that minor team. I think he had a few issues off-the-field maybe, but is in and around the KK panel and may kick on yet.

Ah, anyone can miss a free at some point. I’ve seen the likes of TJ miss frees at times too and he’s generally ice cold. I’d say Drennan’s accuracy is right up there.

Clifford is limited in his ability due to his cack-handed nature.
Drennan is dreadfully one sided. He’s decent but listening to some podcasts they are making him out to be the second coming, it’s lazy analysis because he’s a free taker.

Harry Shine is the best underage forward in Kilkenny coming through at the moment.
