Murphy’s statement never mentioned Cody. He did mention a car dealership and insurance company.
I found that bizarre.
I could be way off but looking from the outside I don’t think there’s a huge amount of personal warmth from past players to Cody. Huge respect no doubt, but when you are that ruthless it probably doesn’t lend itself to getting close to each other and building a friendship. There’s always that edge and nervousness between him and the players.
Cody wouldn’t have it any other way, he’s there to win and fuck everything else but I found it strange that Murphy wouldn’t single out and thank the man who handed him his debut and helped him win 4 All-Ireland’s.
