3rd left Joe Hennessy was some hurler
The Monster House was doing well back in the 80s.
Joe was the business. A beautiful stylist. Small but strong as a bull. I think he was a coalman.
He was indeed . They had a B&B in Kilkenny ( maybe still do ) . By all accounts good folk
The 1982 Leinster Hurling Final saw Offaly lose to Kk by way of a late controversial enough goal .
It doesn’t appear to be on YouTube but my memory is of Damien Martin shepherding a ball to go wide and Liam Fennelly (?) flicking it across the goalmouth for Matt Ruth to score
Wasn’t the ball about a foot wide before Fennelly clipped it back. That’s my recollection of it though it may be mixed up with another controversey.
It was ironic it happened in 1982
He looks a scamp.
Joe Hennessy would make my all time KK hurling team. You’d have to find a place for him. He was like Tommy back in the day.
I would be of the same mind but where does he go.
Midfield alongside Cummins or Fennelly?
He was. He was one of the first attacking wing backs.
Don’t be bringing that up again. It was clearly on the line.
My first favourite hurler
Great, great people. They had a coalyard, now transitioned to oil delivery. Joe’s retired now from that business but deals in a bit of scrapmetal now.
Either corner back or wing back. Either him or Tommy in each position. Fennelly and Cummins in midfield.

Very good.
Joe was a fine hurler on his day but wouldn’t have had near the hurling of Tommy Walsh.
Decent half forward line tbf.
Did Billy Fitz ever get his medals back? I think it was him who had them stolen?
The ball was actually in the Royal Canal when Fennelly flicked it back. He had to step over discarded bicycles and a dead Romanian in a suitcase to get to it.
Is a video of it anywhere on line ??
