The pre-eminent hurling county Kilkenny has nobody under pensionable age within the county, who’s up to the job of training the county hurling team? The inevitable consequence presumably of the proliferation of outside managers in recent years coaching senior club teams in Kilkenny. Maybe its time to start looking for an outside manager for the county team as well.
I couldn’t see that happening for a long time either. I just don’t think DJ or Henry have the sideline experience for the big day.
I’m living outside the county so I wouldn’t be so knowledgable in fairness.
Let’s see if Henry can bring Thomastown senior. Is DJ with any club team this year?

There was lads on here claiming Henry was arrogant for having the neck to take Ballyhale as his first management role. He did alright afterwards.

Henry Shefflin was uniquely suited to being Ballyhale Shamrocks Senior Hurling manager by simply being Henry Shefflin. Very similar to Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid in that regard.
@Cheasty did a great piece on that type of ‘clap your hands’ manager on here before.
I had an argument on that before, I reckoned Henry would have known a bit about it.

Funny thing is,I reckon an outside manager would do wonders for the county set up.No baggage and with everyone buying in.
Unfortunately it won’t happen due to pride,arrogance, stubbornness and a sense of entitlement.
