Piles is a proud ‘Lockes man, he bleeds saffron and blue. Hogans father is Chairman of JLHC, we thought Richie everything.
Ye were lucky.
I went out with his mother for a while.
That was from u-12 up
DJ Carey
Henry Shefflin
TJ Reid
Richie Power
Eoin Larkin
Eddie Brennan
All far better and more effective forwards than Richie. Richie was a fabulous hurler, a little wizard. But wasn’t in the best 6 KK forwards of the past 25 years, not to mind “one of the greatest”.
Most of the forwards from KK who were better than him were retired by 2018, Buff.
Is he absolutely iconic is he?
Caught a bit of Richie’s interview on OTB last night.
He certainly doesn’t lack for confidence anyway.
He’s a genuine Hall of Famer.
A step above iconic.
He’s a gentleman, well able.
No one could question whether he’s a nice harmless sort.
It’s saying he’d be in the conversation of best forwards KK have produced that’s a bit far fetched.
If a fella is a previous HOTY he surely is in the reckoning for a place in an all time team
In Waterford, maybe
Definitely
Richie let his county down very badly in the 2019 All Ireland Final.
You could see the rage in him. He lost control & fucked his team mates.
John Power has to be in the mix. You need a piano lifter there to do the grunt work for all those artists. Presumably it’s only his innate modesty that’s stopping @Locke from throwing him in there.
In my lifetime tbf. And Keher barely scrapes in there and I never saw him play. So really I should have Keher out and both hogan and Larkin in.
Eh, Barrett is a snivelling diving cunt?
There was some hype about Richie back when he was a minor. The Irish language commentator on RTÉ used to have a very distinctive way of saying his name during minor semi-finals and finals. A great player although his peak was shorter than other Kilkenny greats because of injury. He was something else in 2014 and 2015 but has been restricted to brief championship cameos for quite some time now.
What’s the sliding scale here?
- Iconic
- Hall of famer
