Youre 100% right he was a freak to do what he did for so long.
And as far as im concerned, whatever any of them get for their efforts id say fairplay to them.
Heres a hypothetical question-Say if you were Eddie, Mick Fennelly or any of the ex KK greats starting off on your management career.
What would you do if you were offered the KK and say the Waterford job at the same time?
A.Take the KK job and all the pressure
that comes with it,dont get paid apart from mileage and maybe a sponsored car at best.(And probably feel guilty for even taking that because of what went before you and people talk)
B. Take the blaa job,get a handy few bob, mileage,Car and no real pressure.Learn the ropes at a tier 1 county and let someone else try and fill Codys shoes.
I wouldnt be expecting an announcement anytime soon of Codys succesor.Id say lads would run from it,tbh.

Eddie Brennan joked he didn’t want to be David Moyes on the Newstalk interview. I’d say he was only half joking. The only way to follow him is to win an All Ireland, anything else and they are lining up for you

Cody fucked his successor even more by getting pretty close to winning the AI this year.
Anything less than a victory next year is a failure

Even if you won it next year, it’d be Cody’s team.
The current Clare manager and the joint managers before him have done the job gratis. Not much is made of it but they deserve huge credit for it given the hours involved

Cheddar actually paid towards the set up out of his own pocket. Mind boggling.

Sure they hadn’t a bob to give them after all the coin they spent on GPS taggers for the Sixmilebridge hurlers.
As much as the Ferguson-Cody analogies are apt in many respects; there is one key difference for whoever takes over.
Ferguson actually won the league in his last season, probably a huge overachievement considering the midfield he had (although had an unbelievable defence & Van Persie up front). He was very very successful up until the very end.
Cody won a Leinster this year, and got to an All-Ireland final. They put it up to Limerick having been unconvincing early in the year. But they didn’t win and he hasn’t won for 7 years.
So, honestly, I think that his successor will be okay as long as they make it out of Leinster and show some signs of promise. I actually think Kilkenny have plenty of young talent to work with. As long as they’re smart with their appointment, I don’t see any reason why they can’t continue to win Leinsters at the very least over the next few years.

Unfortunately for the next manager,it aint Leinsters that float the Kilkenny hurling publics boat.
Cody got more time than anyone that went before him and that generally doesnt happen.
I expect it to go back to the old way of
2 years,No All Ireland and youre out.
Who’s this fellow Myles Elvis Kavanagh being tipped or as good as has the kk job?
I’m obviously out of the local scene too long. He looks entertaining anyway.

It’s not going to be Derek Lyng now anyway.
I heard. This Elvis rumour is serious.
I’d say Kilkenny will be scrapping for draws with Westmeath under a new manager in the next few years.
Cody was turning water into wine the last few years with some of the lads he was using. And even the more talented lads like Mullen and Eoin Cody, Cody was able to get so much more out of them than Ballyhale usually do.
He was over the Bennetsbridge team that won the junior and intermediate All-Irelands in 14’ and 16’. He took them back to the heartbreak hotel after the senior final defeat to Ballyhale and stood down.
Why do you say that? Cody will have a say in it and he would be the recommended choice one would think?
I’ve heard that he withdrew. My source reckoned that this indicated they had there man.
I also heard a bullshit rumour that Martin Fogarty was coming in as a transitional manager.
Would he shake Shefflins hand?
That’s just Galway paranoia about Henry leaving is it?
My source is in Kilkenny, nothing to do with Galway. If Henry leaves, so be it. He’s doing a good job but there are plenty more out there as capable.
