Kilkenny GAA thread

An awful lot of Jackie Tyrll on the airwaves this week, it seems jackie has a very very special relationship with 'Brother Damian ’

:joy:

Would Clares succes rate in All Irelands not be very very high seeing as they’ve won fuck all down through the years and have won most finals they managed to get to? 4 All Irelands out of 5 or 6 appearances???

Jackie has another cracker in the Times today.

I am reminded one of one the great literary put downs. So and so was in possession of a rare unsigned copy of the book.

Br Damien was in Callan when I was there. Great coach, great motivator and was forward thinking when it came to academics, running the school and promoting sport. He and I didn’t get on personally but in fairness he was a great coach and we shared a passion for sport. He’s from Laois originally.

That would explain all the great hurlers from Callan so.

Callan CBS, pal. In the year Br Damien was there we won the AI B schools title and there must have been 5 on the minor panel in 92.

Wow. A B title.

Trained us to the intermediate in 99.
We’re not known for producing great hurlers but he got the best out of us that year.
All that Locke said I would agree with.

A rural secondary school with less than 300 pupils at the time in the shadows of Kieran’s and KK CBS with no pedigree, shocking return alright

Callan is a bit of a soccer town. Same as Thomastown

Kilkenny won 4 All Ireland’s between 1932 and 1939 and were runners up 3 times. They then proceeded to win 2 All Irelands in the next 24 years.
