I hear your point – and it is a good and sound one. But I am not sure we are talking about the same thing. An intercounty set up is an unforgiving space.
I think Dowling would be mad to leave an Inter County role for a U20s one.
Maybe Kilkenny hurling should follow the template that Glasgow Celtic adopted in the season just gone, in turning in times of crisis to a 74 year old former managerial great.
Lost to Westmeath at u21 level too.
He’s a self-serving bollix ![]()
Well…
You have to drive past Athlone to get to Galway.
Would be the sports story of the year if it happened.
@Malarkey is 100% correct.
Dowling would be a complete sitting duck as Senior manager with Shefflin as U20 boss/on The Sunday Game.
Shefflin is the King at the end of the day and should get first dibs at it come what may. Let Dowling take the 20’s and go from there.
The Kilkenny U20 job is and always will be a bigger gig than Kildare.
The KK U20 2027 team is not bad. Shefflin prob looked at the u20 team as a two year project, it’s not ideal timing for him in that regard but there’s no alternative.
Looks like Shefflin
Say it ain’t so! Where you hearing this from?
What have you against Shefflin?
Overhyped as a player, has shown nothing as coach.
he must have shifted your girlfriend back in the day
Kilkenny need somebody with the demeanour of a professor, somebody with the demeanour and eyes of an Eamon Cregan or a Dermot Healy or a Martin O’Neill.
I get the impression these figures are not plentiful in the Kilkenny hurling fratenity today.
The Cody era was not too professorial. Touch of the Khmer rouge about it.
Maybe overhyped as a player but still an incredibly good one. There doesn’t seem to be too many other options apart from him
They’ll have to get Cha Fitzpatrick back from China to instill some Communist stoicism
Can’t agree with his status as a player. He was the best player and leader on the best team of all time.
Tommy and JJ were superb but it’s more difficult to be an attacker than a defender. He was the leader of the team from when he started as a teenager
He’s back home and teaching locally again
