O Byrne Cup 1st Round
Offaly (1-23) Kilkenny (0-6)
A decent showing in the Cup competition for Kilkenny footballers for their first outing of the year. Should set them up nicely for a tilt at the Shield competition next weekend.

Lots of new players getting a run today. Competition for places really going to hot up over the month or two.
I presume the focus will be on the league, no point in peaking too soon, promotion is a must.
Between dodgy luck and even dodgier ref’s no team got more bad breaks than this lot last year(check corresponding thread 09,). Clearly their due an upswing in fortune and if I may, I’d like to bestow the best wishes of everyone here on TFK upon these brave and noble black and amber gladiators for 2010!
You can walk my path
You can wear my shoes
Let her talk like me
And be an angel too
But maybe
You ain’t never gonna feel this way
You ain’t never gonna know me
But I know you…
Teach you now that
Things can only get better
Can only get, can only get
They get on from here
You know, I know that
Things can only get better

A few excuses for ye,ive never even heard of a few of these fellas,10 of this 15 are from Junior hurling clubs in Kilkenny,2 more are from mars or somewhere, theres probably 50 better footballers in Kilkenny than this lot.THat said im happy eneogh to see these fellas going out to represent us,over the past few Years a couple of fellas from my own club were involved in this farce and it was worrying from a point of view of them getting injured, missing club training and the really hilarious one, being told not to hurl in club games so as to be minding themselves for this horseshit:D,im delighted to see that none of our lads are on the panel.
Any idea why the fake plastic Eddie Brennan didn’t tog link? I can’t see Kilkenny pulling up any trees without his free taking expertise.
St Monica’s is a club in Dublin, but St Novlin’s is a new one on me.
I cant answer you that one MBB,his pace was badly missed too id say ,he doesnt make the club hurling team these days so he could do with the exercise.
Sorry link, you seem to have picked me up wrong. For the past number of years Eddie Brennan has been the top scorer for the Kilkenny footballers, he doesn’t seem to be listed there. He’d be a huge loss to the side and could explain this defeat.
Think I’ve said this in the past but if KK concentrated on only football we’d win the Leinster championship within 5 years. But we’re a hurling county the same as Donegal, Tyrone, Fermanagh, Cavan, Louth, Sligo, Mayo, Roscommon, Leitrim, Kerry, Limerick, Clare, Wexford are footballing counties!
His absence was monumental you reckon??
Thats for absolutely certain,we need only point to the incident in the early part of the last decade when the Kilkenny and Kildare panels were in the same place on thier team holiday and they decided to organise a soccer match,Kilkenny beat them 3-1 with James McGarry,Martin Comerford,Henry Shefflin and PJ Ryan running rings around the footballers.
FFS Link Kildare are barely footballers…
I think without Eddie on board, this Kilkenny team might have to get used to taking some hefty beatings.
True.
Perhaps you should, surely beating the lard out of Waterford and Tipperary gets boring after a while?
As I said in CianFoleys thread, we like Waterford and while it doesn’t get boring, we feel a little sorry every time we do it.
Not Tipp though.
You couldn’t beat them cunts by too much or too often.

I knew if I teed it up nicely someone would have a swing. Go 'asy on Laois later in the year when we dispose of Dublin btw.
Kilkenny came to play Limerick in the football years back and the bus driver ended up togging out for them.
Yawn. I was a young chap when I heard that story. What isn’t said is that the bus driver was in his 20’s and played football with his club.
Young fellas don’t drive buses. I’m pretty sure it was a fat balding middle-aged man.
