Correct. Pouring wet day. Aldridge got a hat-trick, O’Leary and Quinn were the other scorers. It was in September or October alright.

Yes : first game back hone after WC . Dampish October day . Sepp pointek managed the Turks . 2nd international game I attended . O Leary got 1st goal

Yeah, for a huge football-mad country they’ve seriously underachieved. Like you said, they were cannon fodder for most of their existence. Euro 96 was the first tournament they qualified for. Bar the 2002 WC they’ve been solid but largely unspectacular.
