King Henry of Galway (Part 1) 👑

No, it gives ten more minutes to the player coming on. He had loads of chances in that half hour, at least Niall Burke was working his hole off.

Niall Burke had scored, won a free, and was putting himself about. That first half was a dog fight and Flynn was not at the races. His direct opponent, Devereux, was doing UNTOLD on breaking ball around the middle and when he scored a point off Flynn the writing was on the wall. 100% back the manager on this one.

Sure pull a lad ashore after 15 mins then. If he’s made the starting 15, he at least deserves a half. That’s my take on it anyway.

Even Cody has been yanking lads ashore in the first half, and he is the standard with respect to hurling managers. Look, I feel sorry for Flynn, but Wexford were building serious momentum in the first half, mostly driven by their half back line getting the better of their men and marauding forward (4 of their points were scored by defenders), Devereux in particular. It was quite telling that the same Devereux was put on his arse by the relatively slight Tom Monaghan soon after his arrival.

You’ve been away too long pal, you’re gone soft.

Flynn has all the hurling, but his head isn’t in the right place. He’ll star for us for years yet but he was getting killed out there, and the subbing lifted the rest of them out of a mild stupor. Correct decision. Han(s)bury did well, but had this habit of trying to flick the ball back to himself while standing by hitting flat down in it, which never worked and left him scrambling a few times to control it with his feet under pressure (he’s a senior club footballer though, it wasn’t just Lee chin out there) he should be driving hard to get down over it, he’d win a free every time

He even thinks they shouldn’t be flaking each other in club matches - sure that’s a cherished tradition

Brehony nails it for once.

A good day for the tribesmen and women. A comfortably win for the camogie seniors, the U16 ladies football, and the male and female PUC fada titles. Gaillimh Abu & well done to all concerned.

Can never understand that sort of management. It makes no sense at all.

There are a few other digs in there as well.

Rest in peace Tony

That’s awful news. His performance in the 88 final was one for the ages. Himself and Lynsky skipped the post match banquet for pints in McGowans and Tony wasn’t around to collect his Sunday game motm award.
A true great and badly treated in 1989. RIP
