King Henry of Galway (Part 1) 👑

I don’t think we got rode yesterday. Refs are simple fools in the main, they try balance it and wexford were so bad first quarter i was nearly hoping theyd start scoring. Wexford played him after, went to ground very easy and he bought it. We are never that cute bar the odd glennon flop

We were rode sideways and bareback by the cunt, but if we were worth a fuck we’d have beaten them out the gate anyway.

You’re as deluded as a pre 2018 Limerickman.

I’m not worried. We’ll get better as the summer goes on, all we need is third place in Leinster, didn’t do Limerick any harm last year. The changes that need to be made are obvious, hopefully Donoghue has the balls and courage to make them.

No change from past 30 years sure. Twas only around 2016 I gave up the ghost on playing county sure.

Putting the money in to the inaccessible wind tunnel in salthill was nuts . Tuam should have been the place .

Athenry for the small ball

I’ll retract it.

Hurling is nigh on impossible to ref. He was grand.

The decline in standard of Galway club hurling is feeding through to the county team now. Gone miles back in recent years.

Galway haven’t played well since the Tipp semi in 2017

Not true. Galway like any county goes through cycles of one club team dominating (Athenry, Portumna) and a competitive championship with many teams around the same standard. The evidence actually is the Galway IC team do better when there isn’t a dominant club team (to hate). There was no dominant team in the 80s nor the 10s.

Was there a dominant team for the 30 years in between?

The standard in Galway is gone miles back in my opinion. St Thomas’s and mellows hammered in last 2 years.

Three to be precise. Sarsfields in the early 90s, Athenry dominated for more than a decade and then Portumna.

I think each of them won 5 between 1990 and 2010 on a quick sconce

You’re confusing an outstanding crop that comes along every so often in one club with what is the norm for most clubs. Athenry have been rubbish by their standards for the past decade and Portumna might end up in Intermediate. Look at Tipp for example, a club team rarely comes out of Munster yet their IC team is the dominant team of the decade.
