He’s only keeping the seat warm for PJ.
Setting it on fire isn’t exactly keeping it warm
Unfair. He made Galway somewhat relevant again, but agree it’s time to for the Messiah himself to bring us to the promised land
I’ve come to the conclusion that blehane is a cunt and a fairly useless one at that
You are some hero
Boo fucking hoo
Galway hurling on the slide at club and county level.
The minors are going well and are into an All Ireland quarter final afaik.
Under 17 juvenile hurling.
Galway did the only thing they could to unify the county side, which was effectively to run it as its own club. This has seemed to result in a slightly insular set up, where you’re either in the firm, or you’re not. It seems difficult to break in unless you’ve been groomed for it from a relatively young age, but traditional inter-club vendettas seem to suggest that, for now at least, it’s the way it is.
I’d expect this to change with the gradual urbanisation of hurling, provided the 4x4 classes continue to adopt it as the chosen sport for fiachra et Al.
This from a wexford lad who’s County board filled the togs at the thought of galway playing under age in Leinster. Dear me.
Arise Rahoon/Newcastle, your time is here
Oran more is more where I was thinking tbh. Hurling is still largely an afterthought in the city. The schools just don’t bother about it much.
Mellows got to the last 2 county finals there, winning one
I know that bud, but the city schools don’t pay much attention to it. Mellows catchment isn’t really city either.
I’m nearly certain Renmore, Woodquay etc are in the City
Renmore is its natural home. Very few lads from wood quay hurling there. Renmore and mervue, whilst in the city, are more like individual communities. Maybe I’m just looking at it from a west of the river perspective, but you know as well as I do that hurling is not a major feature of the city itself.
It is the very nature of cities to be made up of many such individual communities, easy to tell your from the bog.
Hurling is thriving in Galway City. The continued succes of clubs Mellows, Castlegar, Rahoon Newcastle the mighty Menlo Emmeths is indispiutable evidence. Hurling has a bigger presence by far in Galway City than places like Cork, Limerick, Waterford even moneybags Dublin.
Jesus hurling is massive in Waterford City, by far the number one sport in the city, followed by soccer, Gaelic football and rugby in that order
It’s down below rugby soccercabd gaelic football in galway City. The lads in the small commuter towns have a distorted view. They can’t even spell the clubs.
