I know it’s only the league but seeing Gary O’Donnell still starting doesn’t scream progress.
6 points from play from midfield for Haran, massive opportunity for him this year
Today means nothing but would be great to see Haran make the breakthrough this time. Just cos a lad didn’t get there the first time doesn’t mean he should be cast aside for good as was the case for many a long year in Galway.
Fact
Looking forward to seeing how he goes next week
Galway scrape home by a point
That’ll do
Good win that
Walking out of pearse here and most of the talk is about the ref (12 mins of xtra time instead of 5 and a lot of strange calls) and Rory Beggan.
Strange game but a good win to get the ball rolling
Deegan always has to be the centre of attention.
Cuntish
Deegan put on some display there. After Galway went 5 up early in the 2nd half he rode them solid for the next 20 minutes. Brought Monaghan right back into it. Last 10+ minutes was absolute chaos. Stoppages aplenty. I’ll give him one thing he got the crowd into the game by annoying them so much.
Just back from the Shtadium. Hard to know did we hold on or go and win it when it was there to be won when Monaghan came right back into it. Ref was out of his depth, less said the better. That said there would have been some red faces in the Galway attack if we hadn’t won, SW hit the post from a free from 10 yards and Finnerty booted over when clean through although he took his goal smartly in the 1st half.
Definitely a more direct approach from Galway here, no flapping the ball sideways and backwards for ages, although we did start a bit of that trying to protect the lead late and got our reward when GoD gave it away leading straight to a Monaghan counter. He popped up for a nice score in the first half in fairness. We did leave holes at the back, Monaghan were picking off handy scores from play all day long. Gleeson pulled off a couple of decent saves including a penalty and looked assured in his kickouts one of the big plus’s for us today.
Comer looked a bit rusty at first but certainly grew into the game, still could be doing more with him I reckon. Important to hit the ground running today and the W on the board was all that counts
The crowd were great today, some atmosphere
Couldn’t disagree with any of that
Was that Maurice Deegan?
It was. Time he was put out to pasture, all over the shop today
Hardly out of his depth whatever he was
