No John Daly, which is a pity as he has been one of Galway’s best players so far this league. Liam Silke a more than decent replacement though.

It’s a pity Kev isn’t here for this. I doubt he’d like that very much.

I think there’s a lot to be said for it, some fellas are never right in their heads. But then if a fella is genuinely nursing an injury to be right for the weekend I don’t see why you’d force him to train. Grand in the league I guess, where if a fella isn’t right you can afford not to risk him anyway, but be interesting to see if it holds come championship.

David and Daithí Burke look set to make their first appearances of 2020 for Galway this weekend.

2017 All-Ireland winning captain David had taken time out to go travelling, while Daithí was part of the Corofin team that completed a three-in-a-row of All-Ireland club SFC titles last month.

Galway now face into two crucial games in this year’s NHL, with Cork coming to Salthill this Sunday, with Tipperary arriving the following weekend.
