“Our best intentions are often thwarted by external forces—forces that we ourselves set in motion long ago. Decisions, especially bad ones, create their own kind of momentum, and momentum can be a bitch to stop, as every athlete knows.”

I genuinely think ye approached the game a little too blasee and paid the price. That’s a lesson in itself. Granted ye haven’t made life easy for yourselves for the rest of the year but if yere luck enough to get a bi tomorrow, itll be a price that might have been worth paying. I don’t think ye’'ll make the same mistake twice.

Minor ball is the pinnacle of a players career

It’d be one thing if this was a once-off but the vast majority of these lads did the same thing not two years ago against the Dubs. The make life very difficult for themselves and a couple of these lads are probably in their last championship so they should’ve been expecting a big showing from Mattie Kenny’s boys.

Would I be right in saying there is an absence of good stickmen in that Galway backline? I know Padraic Mannion has had some great days in the jersey and yesterday was an aberration, but iv never considered him a natural hurler. He hit a sideline ball back out over the line yesterday, and then picked Rushe out with a long range free, but there probably is nobody in that area of the field any better than him for these tasks.

In fairness though , Joe probably had his worst outing in years. He’ll never do that again.

Stop plámásing us Mike. Stick the boot in while we’re down. It’s what we’d do.

Theres nothing won yet kid and truth be told we’re still at the same place we were at the end if the league. Maybe after the provincial finals and a couple of qualifiers we might have a clearer picture but right now it’s as you were

We’ve been at it for generations. Won’t change now.

Galway are the best team in the qualifiers by a bit. I still think them and Kilkenny are the only 2 teams capable of turning limerick over.

Dublin will give Limerick a game. A full strength Wexford would. Waterford have been disappointing this year, but again with a full team they’d have a good go. Clare could. I dunno. I don’t think cork are great and they stayed with them, but you just get the feeling Limerick will just do enough in most games. They haven’t looked in trouble for a long while

I wonder is there still the same opposition to this statement now

Daithi is good enough to play anywhere in the backs. Your man Cathal Mannion is windy no matter where he plays.

If Canning commits for another year (which I’m doubting) he must play CB. I’d be happy with Daithi in any of the other five defensive positions.
