So is darach honan better than joe canning?..better a bit of lively hurling debate than lads upset their favorite millionaire soccer player has been caught cheating/ racially abused someone/ changed fucking shampoo
Darach Honan is a nice hurler, Joe Canning is a great hurler.
Did he play in the US?
Honan wouldnāt lace Joeās boot.
Youre emotional.
Iāll let that slide.
Howās Clare treating you? Nice spot.
Leave us be Kidā¦
We might actually win something now that the big 3 are weakeningā¦ a bit like when ye won a couple of handy all Irelands in the late 90s.

I wouldnāt say we are weakening, weāre getting stronger if anything.
Edit: We = Limerick before ye start with any of the smart alec Tipp jokes
They are worse than us for it.
Honan wouldnāt lace Joeās boot.[/quote]
A poor mans Kevin downes.
Canning couldnāt produce when it mattered last year

na, ye cant go the 3 games in the new format, yeāre still stuck back in the time where hurling was something ye did to top off race week ni ballybrit
Ah the famed kilkenny wit.
You were looking for hurling debate.
Fair enough. Arguably he did let us down the first day. Game was there to be won with a few long range points and he should have come out and asked for the ball more. He also missed a gettable free before the leveler. But he did more than his share overall. He was injured the second day so you canāt be too harsh on him. Whatās overlooked I think is that he virtually beat cork on his own. There was plenty of nerves around the rest of the team until the last ten minutes when it was over. When it was in the mix he was the only outlet most of the time. Heās still the best player in the game in my book.
He completely went out of it in the 2nd half of the first game and injured or not he wasnāt a factor in the replay. I donāt think heās consistent or reliable enough to be considered the best player in the game. I presume the comparison with honan was a piss take
the comparison with honan is a pisstake, Honan isnt even an established senior hurler, but i agree with Fran here, attributing the word āgreatā to any hurler means you put them on a platform with Ring, Mackey, Shefflin, Henderson, Walsh, Eoin Kelly, Doyles,Ken Macgrath JBM etc , Canning has undoubted potential but is nowhere near a great
I was winding up the Clare lads for saying we get carried away. After honan won the u21 there was a thread on AFR the title basically being whoās better now canning or honan? Everyone gets carried away not just Galway fans. He was injured the second day so that has to be a factor. The expectation on him is ridiculous, there isnāt one hurler in Ireland and I include shefflin that as much is expected of in each game. I rate him so highly as heās the only real danger man Galway have had so easily targeted by defenders. He could be more consistent if he has Donnellan the two burkes Johnny glynn and Hayes or some combination of them in a forward line with him hurling well. that should take some responsibility off him and weāll see how he goes.
Eoin Kelly (either) Ken McGrath?? Very good players but not all time greats of the game in my opinion.
Shefflin has carried the expectation for 12 years now, same for Eoin Kelly, and Carey before that, Joe Cooney was a raw 20 YO in his first AI final and carried expextation throughout his career. Canning is 24 now. its shit or get off the pot time wrt leadership and legacy
