Iām not on X but has Moore Houses or Bryson had anything to say ?
And MC Hammer.
Iād see a similarity with the beastie boys in the way theyāve gone and developed their music massively since the first album.
I donāt know them that well. I amnt really their target market but that song @Bandage referenced earlier āHOODā is quite good.
CEARTA is a catchy tune too, otherwise donāt bother with the first album but the second is worth a listen.
I wouldnāt be the biggest hip hop/rap fan in the world but I do like the new album quite a bit.
I think itās a fairly strong album in its own right. And H.O.O.D is a cracking tune too.
Whether theyāll kick on from here and develop further, I donāt know, but they seem to have matured musically. Apparently very good live regardless.
The Beastie Boys comparisons are fair, I would say; aiming for the satirical/humorous lyrics. A long way off the Beastie Boys yet now. But I actually really like the jumping between English & Irish to give greater flexibility with the rhythm of the song, not as easy to do as it seems.
The beastie boys had two stonewall global classics
Rap is so much more palatable when itās not constant guns, bitches and blingā¦
What is the story with these three lads in terms of upbringing?
Middle class? Working class?
I know one of them used to be a teacher so that would indicate middle class maybe.
Ah there was no need to dox one of our esteemed posters!
Whatās this now?
Shortlisted for 2 Oscars. Fair going. Itāll drive a good few lads demented
Hard not to see them make the shortlist. If and when they do, then they have the charisma and talent to monetise that in a massive way. This isnāt some fellas with plastic bags on their heads, thereās substance here.
An interview with them came up on YouTube. They were drinking cans of Moretti on the Pat Kenny show on Newstalk. Iām not sure if it was schtick or some product placement, but it didnāt seem very edgy / rock and roll as they try so hard for. Seem to be more Bono than a Sinead OāConnor to me.
I donāt like their music at all, but the fact they have pissed off / wummed the Daily Mail / loyalist crowd is always a good good thing.
What cans would have made it rock n roll?
Tim expects them to be drinking cans of Dutch Gold and flagons of cider.
Is moretti middle-class?
