well one of the 20 people who was there is actually a forum member here
Kurt is one of our own, it wasnât widely known that night,
It was wedged for Nirvana, who told you otherwise?
It wouldnât be like Cork people to overstate things to make themselves look in a positive light.
Just waiting for comments about âpeople you knowâ being there.
Iâm sure it was wedged alright. Sure there must have been thousands there for it to see one of the best up and coming bands. Remember reading a piece about it last year or the year before where the promoter and manager of Sir Henrys laughed at how there was only about 20 people there for the gig and there were some at the back of the club drinking. He did buy them a take away out of hillbillies though, so got some local cuisine.
Christ almighty, serious crowd
Just a gag about Kurt saying he had some Cork ancestry, forget it
Hilbillies wasnât there till about 94
just another lying Cork langer to add to the list so
ah, in fact not. it became hillbillies, it seemed to have been called Bill and Bobs at the time
There was a pub called the forum there where hillbillies is now back in those days
Certainly not, the forum was another club under Henryâs
Iâd say hilbillies was Murphs chipper then
What are you reading mate. Could you link it?
it was on an Examiner piece where they called it ânow Hillbillysâ
Youâre right about the forum. The pub Iâm thinking of was called the factory possibly? On grand parade
Never on that site anyway, possibly Frankieâs?
No itâs definitely the factory alright. Could have been called Doyleâs once upon a time too.
Correct
Iâd say weâre all right, in 91 that would have been Frankieâs, then Doyleâs for a couple of years, the factory name would have been much later, almost up on Washington street, now called soho I think
Is preachers on Washington street still there? Was a great spot back in day too
People who dismiss nirvana as a one hit wonder are being grossly unfair. They had at least two good songs.
Tis, was great if you got the window seat
