Lakeside World Professional Darts Championships 2016

World champion Scotty Dog Mitchell survived an almighty scare from New Zealand’s Craig Caldwell in today’s first match, winning 3-2, after being 2-1 down.

Caldwell knocked in 9 180s to Scotty Dog’s four and both players averaged nearly 93. Superb stuff.

Peter Sajwani and Sam Hewson locked in a deciding set battle as I type. Another Lakeside classic, this one.

The Count RETURNS to the Lakeside stage at 4pm.

Good luck to Ted, would love to see him win this.

Clutch finishing from Sajwani to clinch the win. Compelling match, that. Sam Hewson looked overawed by the stage in the first two sets but launched a great comeback and was unlucky to lose out in the end. He’ll be back.

What a character Sajwani is. Gave Little Richard Ashdown a big goozer on the lips at the end. The Swedish number one is backarooney, just as he promised he would be last year, and now takes on Mark “Geezer” McGeeney in Round 1 proper.

Bantz between Peter Sajwani and Rob Walker there in the interview.

“He’s no Dave Chisnall in interviews”, says Colin Murray. Sajwani will be not going down to Morecambe this evening to practice.

It’s well known that women have poor hand/eye co-ordination compared to men, but the top ladies’ darts players such as Fallon Sherrock, Lisa Ashton, Deta Hedman and Anastasia Dobromyslova have the best hand/eye co-ordination of any women in the world, and hand/eye co-ordination better than 99% of men.

These are undoubtedly women you would trust to drive a car safely. In fact they could be brain surgeons, if they had the intellect to go through all the years of study needed to become one.

Huge upset in the ladies match here, unbelievable scenes here

Unbelieveable. Some shock to see Fallon dumped out. But Anne Louise Peters played a great match.

Great to see the Count has gone back to his classic walk on with the cape and the plastic bats being thrown into the crowd after discarding it for a few years.

The Count, Tony Green, Lakeside. Bliss.

Can the Prime Minister stop him?

Hopefully not

Fallon is a hairdresser. Reckon she would give @flattythehurdler a good trimming.

Looking at her you’d never have guessed.

The PM takes the first leg but Ted takes the second leg in 15 darts.

Deciding leg in set 1.

She has the look of a ladies gaelic footballer.
She could trim my locks in any case whilst she was rubbing her boobs off my ear. :dancing_women:

Ted takes out 124 to win the first set.

60% success rate on the doubles for David Cameron so far. That’s Prime Ministerial finishing.

Ted takes a 2-0 lead.

Ted getting into the swing of it now

That throwing action is smooth as silk. Could watch it all day. Just two legs away now.
