Oh dear. That wasnāt the real Ted Hankey.
Ted booed off stage after exchanging words with the audience during the final leg.
Has his flirtation with Philās Dart Club changed Ted?
What we saw tonight was a pale shadow of the once great Ted Hankey. Serious illness has exacted a heavy toll on the Count. Just one successful double from 24 and a facile 3-0 win for the Captain of Wales.
Its a tough transition to go back playing competitive darts after going to the exhibition circuit.
Having said that, another win for Larry Butler earlier tonight.
One could say it was a victory for Ted to be even on stage at all given his illness.
Great punditry from defending champion Scotty āDogā Mitchell here:
āTed came in with a game plan but Martin was ready for him.ā
Wolfie against The Silencer first up today and thatās going to be one hell of match. Think Wolfie will edge it but Jeff is a very dangerous opponent for him.

Couldnāt call whoāll be in the final at this stage Massey. Wolfie has a big task just to win here against Jeff Smith. Heās 2-0 down in set 1.
14 darter for Smith to win the first set 3-1.
But Wolfie responding like the champion he is and is averaging 180 in set 2 after 3 darts of it.
10 darter for Wolfie to win the first leg of set 2. Thatās the real Wolfie!
Crucial deciding leg in set 2. Wolfie goes first.
OMG. Thatās clutch from Smithy to break.
Heās 2-0 up!
Unreal from The Silencer.
The Silencer 2-0 up in legs in set 3 and on the verge of beating Wolfie!
Wolfie very magnanimous as always.
Unbelieveable scenes. Wolfie is GONE!
The Lakeside never disappoints, never!
End of
Wolfie fronting up as always like the champion he is.
The definition of class in his interview with Rob Walker here.
Speaking gracefully and with dignity, admitting he was beaten by the better player, and having total praise for Jeff.
Iām sure heāll stick around for the rest of the week, as he always does when heās not playing.
Even in defeat, itās impossible for your admiration for the grand old man of darts not to grow even more.
GAME ON between Geezer McGeeney and The Chatterbox.
The lads will probably not have been expected to be on stage so soon this afternoon, but thatās darts for you.
Still reeling after that explosive performance from Smithy.
