Shaughs is a gent. He was a super hurler, an absolute class act in an era when we were fairly poor in the forward ranks. A very decent coach too.
His missus taught a couple of my crew. While we were watching the program one of them told me that she had to change the plans for the house to remove the windows on one gable.
Would you have had the corpulent figure of Ollie to go with the āstyleāā¦?
Heās currently looking like 5st. above his playing weight of 14/15st. A likeable blokeā¦
Think his auld fella is from back West somewhere.
I was wondering about the kicked goals ā¦,

He could teach Gillanne a thing or two!
Where would he rank on a list of Limerick hurlers from the last 20 years?
No 1 I reckon.
Would have been great to see how heād do in the current set up, getting fantastic low ball played in rather than the aimless, booming high stuff he had for most of his career.
His performances against Clare and Waterford in 07 were fantastic. He took to Croke park straight away.

He was a great man to tap over a free in fairness to him.
He was different gravy really and has to rank as the best forward Limerick produced in 30 years anyway. He was a prodigy underage and it translated into Senior success too, which doesnāt always happen. He played U21 with Limerick at 16, he played Senior championship for Limerick at 17. He won it all underage and just a pity he doesnāt have that All Ireland Senior medal in his pocket but he can certainly look back with pride regardless of that and he did all he could in that regard. There would be a buzz in the ground when a good ball went in to him, because the expectation was he could always be relied upon to make something happen. He has all the hallmarks of someone who will go on to have massive success and reach the top as a coach/manager. He comes across as an absolute gentleman and a very humble individual as well to boot. It was a great episode.
He was a prodigy underage
That commands serious respect in my book.
Apparently he was someone for the shitetalk on the pitch, even as a young fella. Our manager tells a lovely story about how he was roasted by a 16-year-old Shaughs and the constant reminder in his ear of it too.
He had a definite arrogance on the pitch anyway and a swagger which was great to see. He had savage mental fortitude and still has.
He was like a good Paul Flynn
arrogance on the pitch
he picked that up in Cork
he picked that up in Cork
I gave the big auld fella that used to play centre half for Balla a nice bit of lip after I turned him to setup a goal. He responded by flattening me with a box of a fist.
Not in Flynnās league.
Such a prodigy at underage that his senior career even when fit was an anticlimax (bar a period in 07), similar to Neil Ronan, another Colmanās superstar but he has the medals to comfort himself
I await the inevitable pointless favourable comparison with a Cork hurler, perhaps Pat Horgan
Which fella was that? One of the Dalys ?
Which fella was that? One of the Dalys ?
Iād remember his name if you said it. I donāt think it was Daly. I think he was a bit of āligendā in the junior soccer scene.
Dunphy? Ginger fella?
