He played intercounty hurling for 7 years at least, my observations were quite mild, I havenât insulted him in any way, I responded to a couple of comments, one was that he âkicked onâ from his juvenile career, I donât agree
The other was that he âsingle handedlyâ brought Limerick to the final in 07, I donât agree
Donât act like I said he was shit or play the illness card, I donât judge him on anything after that
Dry your eyes ffs sake. Itâs an opinion, not an attack on OâShaughnessy.
Considering he played u21 as a 16 year old and senior as a 17 year old you couldnât but say that he failed to live up to his potential, even if some of the reasons were outside his control
Backtrackinatracksuit and the other clown here sticking your beak in @Raylan the original comment was insinuating surprise of the player failing to live up to his full potential and at the same time knowing full well the reason why.
He didnât kick on from his underage career, correct. He set the world on fire at underage. He went on to have an excellent county career. So he set a high bar and maintained a high standard, âkicking onâ would not apply.
He went on to win an all star at 23 in 2007, he contracted MS in 2009 and retired shortly after. Thatâs an outrageous statement.
A Tipp fan talking about failing to live up to potential?
To be fair he played on pretty average Lk teams that were ill equipped to get the best out of him . The 2007 team was fairly limited if truth told .
You are reading it as in insinuation, rather than a statement of fact. Thereâs plenty county-men of your own, less emotional about it; that agree.
He played senior inter county hurling as a child. One All Star by 25 is not living up to his potential. If youâre playing senior inter county as a 17 year old for a decent county you should go on to be one of the best players in the game consistently. Eoin Kelly similarly played intercounty as a minor and had 5 All Stars by the time he was 24
We were shite in those days though. Weâre World Champions now.
Tipp were winning Munsters and contesting AIs when Kelly was in his pomp, Limerick couldnt even win their opening game in Munster for love nor money at the same time.
If only they had a superstar forward who could have elevated them from also-ran status
He wasnât playing for a decent county for most of those years you thick.
2006 the Joe McKenna implosion. 2007 all star. 2008 implosion, beaten by Offaly. 2009 Justin fucking McCarthy and the hiding from Tipp. 2010 strike. 2011 retirement due to illness.
Tipp were about as good as Limerick when Eoin Kelly was in his pomp
Like Tony Kelly from 2014 to date who goes missing more often than not during the big games?
Great lad to pick off scores though when the pressure is off.
It shows how far Tipp have fallen that youâre now starting arguments that Tipp are shitter than limerick.
Exactly. OâShaughnessy was a good forward but Ollie Moran was better for Limerick around the same time
Stop lad.
It shows how far Tipp have fallen that youâre now starting arguments that Tipp are shitter than limerick
I think you need reading lessons. Limerick and Tipp had a lot of close battles in Eoin Kellyâs prime of about 04-07
Have a look at the results between Limerick and Tipp from the time there mate
