That is true. Remarkably unorthodoxâŚ
Would you know if he writes with his left hand?
Correct. He was Left handed.
Is Paudie Maher left handed? He certainly favours his right side and his left sided strike has a wide enough arc.
I wouldnât unfortunately.
i think his grip/striking is ok, he is RHOT and i belive he favours his left hand for catching. But often tried to switch hands so to speak after catching the ball which can make him look quick awkward
Do traditionalists try coach this out of youngfellas? Iâd often hear lads lamenting a fellas grip or awkwardness. But surely thatâs just style over substance.
For instance Adrian Breen carries the hurley back to front but he is some man to get a goal. The traditional coaching would say thatâs all wrong.
Go with instinct and coach the skills would surely be better. Theres no one way of achieving something
Finger whinger?
Podge Collins often has to change grip too.
Whatâs this guys problem?
Explain this one to me?
Someone is sending photos of him about the place.
All I did was tell him he was jealous of Paul Kimmage and that seems to be the point of no return
He has the toe of the bas pointing in towards him when rising etc. Its hard to explain
It depends on the individual player I find. Some lads can make the swing work, other lads are for all intents and purposes stuck with a wide strike on their dominant side and weak side which is non existant in tight spaces due to poor technique. If a lad can quicked up his technique he will get away with it to a certain level but for the majority of cases you will be found out as you go up through the grades.
Athleticism is the best mask for a bad grip. A great grip/wrists the best mask for shit athleticism
My problem is a gobshite following me around in various guises. He is afflicted with a condition that means he is to taking hints what Stevie Wonder is to darts.
So I decided to change tack.
Fetches in right hand, quite often, Podge Collins.
Common enough, i do something similar enough myself most of the time. Domhnall OâDonovan another proponent of it as well
Paudie Maher is a classic ciotĂłg: lefthanded, lhot and takes a dead ball off his left side.
RĂłnan Maher is righthanded, rhot and takes a free off his left side and a sideline off his right side.
Wouldnât you have to spin the bas around before you struck it. Itâs savage awkward
