4 points to 3 to Joeys at half time. Very very dour stuff but that was well expected given the anti football style of both sides. Eoghan O Flaherty formerly of Kildare parish leading the scoring for Joes
Dreadful stuff in ideal conditions but that’s the way it’s gone now. Mick Dempsey leads his beloved Joeys back to the promised land 50 years since their first ever title. Be some crack across the county tonight from Kellyville to The Swan, Wolfhill to Milltown.
was the kerryman John Mark Foley hurling for Portlaoise in their intermediate hurling final victory yesterday? I know he was playing in the earlier rounds
Cant find a match report for the final with a team sheet
Yes, centre back, him and Sheehan from Limerick lorded it.
Limerick native Dylan Sheehan was outstanding in the middle of the field for Portlaoise in the victory and picked up the man of the match award. Alongside Kerry’s John Mark Foley, who transferred from Kilgarvan in Kerry earlier this year, the two made a big impression.
“Myself and John Mark Foley work in the town and got involved,” added
“We were travelling up and down for training to our own clubs and finding it hard so we got involved with Portlaoise here and they took us in with open arms,” he said.

PORTLAOISE: Brochan O’Reilly; Dean Lynch, Eoin O’Connor, Frank Flanagan; Cian Dowling-Byrne, John Mark Foley, Conor Raggett; Dylan Sheehan, David O’Mahoney; Cian Taylor, Cathal Duggan, Eddie Critchley; Aaron Bergin, Conor Brown, DJ White. Subs: Cormac Rigney for O’Mahoney (ht), Ben Brennan for Taylor (55), Brian Naughton for Lynch (59)
I would go as far as to say JM Foley may be good enough to play for the Laois senior hurlers
He never played senior hurling for Kerry but was plenty good enough. He had a good few injuries and playing a lot football so didnt ever commit. He was touted as a kerry senior footballer at one stage won 2 all ireland minor football medals at midfield
He is better at the hurling - from good hurling stock
His 2 uncles John Foley and Seamus McIntyre were on the kerry hurling team that beat Waterford in 1993 and his father was a sub. His grandfather PJ McIntyre played senior hurling an football for both Offaly and Kerry
Oh and Conor Browne picked up Clubber MOTM. His younger brother David was the young fella who died in the quad bike accident earlier in the summer. Conor was in goal last week for the Senior footballers when they lost out to Joes
Hard to see how this is a good use of money. Between this and McNulty, I’m fucking baffled at the spend and return.
