Phil Lynott was already dead when I first became aware of the Irish rock music scene. Iâm not really sure who if anybody looked down on Thin Lizzy but then again I donât remember that time.
Maybe âlooked down â isnât right but not sure they got recognition they deserved .
Because U2 became so big it sort of clouds out other Irish artists in the popular imagination, a bit like how The Beatles did with other bands from Liverpool.
Lynott is up there in the top three or four folk heroes in modern Dublin history though. Heâd have a similar status to Luke Kelly and Paul McGrath. Tragic figures always tend to be more loved.

I remember buying Aslan debut album when it came out. I bought a few singles too like Pretty Thing. I (wrongly) stuck with them when they kicked Christy out of the band.
