Phil Lynott was already dead when I first became aware of the Irish rock music scene. I’m not really sure who if anybody looked down on Thin Lizzy but then again I don’t remember that time.

Maybe “looked down “ isn’t right but not sure they got recognition they deserved .

They mixed the good with the awful, in fairness, for every Jailbreak there was a Sarah, for every Boys are back in town there was a dancing in the moonlight.

But they were revered, in a way that U2 aren’t and they were part of every head banging set at the dances.

…people during their set. I was extremely drunk by the time The Coronas came on stage, and it soon became apparent that it very much was a Coronas crowd. I had to be restrained and eventually dragged out of the tent, such was the abuse I was hurling at them, the band and the crowd. And I’d do it again.

I also say The Coronas numerous times in college and I wanted to support them but they were just so shit that I couldn’t. Their only good song at that stage was the San Diego song, which is literally about being a South Dublin Trust Fund kid with no pressures in your life.

I don’t think Danny’s target market is the D4s though. His real target market is something equally cynical, it’s 14 year old C-student country lasses who will eventually study arts in UCD and who’s ambition is to be the South Dublin Trust Fund kids.

I have far far more contempt for Brezzie and the Blizzards though, who I also saw many times in college. He was openly advertising himself as a D4 and prancing around on stage like he was playing in the senior cup. It was unreal horseplay. Danny is basically decent enough, Brezzie is a natural born cunt.

Tubs is trotting out some long lost “celebrities” tonight, Paddy Kielty on there a while ago.
I have a query however. RTE have been mourning deceased characters, Gaybo et al, but there hasn’t been hide nor light of Brush Shields in years. You’d have thought he’d have been rolled out on a few occasions but no sightings.

Anyone an update on him, I enjoyed his eccentric musings. I hope he’s just boycotting RTE.
