This show, once the lynch-pin of RTE’s “must watch” flagships has gone to fuck.
I). An utterly unfunny cunt (Callan) prostituting his persona for cheap laughs (faked).
ii). A finger expert. A Prof: in fingerering is more (insert forum member) territory.
iii). A disturbed / conflicted basket-case who may hear the words “sew in in to the cunt” in a myriad of ways.
Fuck up alert…The scrawny cunt trots out Finbar Furey and Christy Dignam -both worthy of a show on their own. They’re flying until he interjects O’Neill. A humourless/stoic Northern “soccer personality” to kill the show.
Having gravitated toward the Furey/Dignam scenario, he could at least have given Sharon Shannon a decent blast at it - but at best a cameo appearance.
In short he fucked up what had great potential.

Good man for the stories but he tends to trot them out show after show, the last time he played in Dolans he should have given money back, he was still hung over after appearing on the late late the night before with some other heavy drinker who I forget and they had a savage night, only managed about 40 minutes in Dolans and the voice was fucked.
Christy Dignam is a national treasure, hard to believe ‘this is’ is over 30 years old, one of the all time great Irish singles.

That duet was incredible. Great to see and hear Christy in such good spirits on this and Tommy Tiernan recently. Sadly his skin has that stretched worn and paper thin look one gets after that sort of treatment but he seems in good spirits and ruddy health.
Finbar obviously is an Irish great. Nice to see him get a bit of recognition if too short.
Thankfully didn’t watch the rest of it.

Fact. Stood the test of time unbelievably well. I’d love to see someone huge covering it and giving Christy a massive payday before its too late. They didn’t make that much money id say considering how much gigging they always had to do. Iv seen em 30 or 40 times I’d say. Went out to the noggin Inn a few times even which was an experience!!
