670,000 people watched the Late Late last Friday for the country music special. That’s about as many as watched the NFL final on TG4 and apart from myself they were probably the same people watching both.
People enjoying a bit of country & western and dancing is very low on the scale of problems facing the country. Not really my cup of tea TBH but each to their own.
Not what was on offer Friday night Mike no. But I would go and see a Garth Brooks concert for example.
There are however plenty of acts I would not go and see if they were playing in my back garden.
Among them would be R. E.M. , The rolling stones, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon. Heck I don’t even think the Beatles were too hot in their day.
But that’s not my point. My point is that music is a matter of personal taste and in today’s age music is one little form of escape from the travails a lot of people face today. So if your preferred choice us Daniel O’DONNELL, Nathan Carter, Mar go, U2Paul Simon R.E.M. or the Beatles then whatever floats your boat. Doesn’t mean anyone needs to worry about your well being
I just get the feeling that there’s a huge correlation between fans of c&w and people that vote for the likes of Danny Healy Rae, Michael Lowry and Michael Fitzmaurice. I have no problem with people listening to Garth Brooks or other such shite but their judgement would have to be called into question, especially when they’re allowed vote.
