The fact so many tuned in to the Late Late to watch Nathan Carter and Daniel O’Donnell is deeply disturbing. These people are allowed to vote, no wonder the country is fucked.
Makes absolutely no sense to equate people’s musical tastes to how they vote.
It’s a bit like saying that everybody who voted on the gay marriage referendum are either raging homos or raging homophobes.
Yep , we need the sauve sophisticated urban electorate who gave us Haughey , Ray Burke , Bertie, Lawlor etc . Also Paul Murphy , Ruth Copponger , Joan Burton , Gilmore , Tony Gregory etc . Electing corrupt politicians , loonies , spoofers , parish pumpers etc is not the sole preserve of C&W fans .
Generally politicians get their cummepance within the pale. Did FF win any seats in the 2011 election in Dublin? Lowry only topped the poll when word got out he was corrupt.
If a questionnaire were handed to Lowry voters about their musical tastes I’d say they’d have Wagon Wheel as the best tune of all time. Not because they believe it but it would be the only tune they’d know by name.

I’d be suspicious of someone who proclaimed a dislike of Dylan, the Beatles and REM Mike.
