League of Ireland 2009

Do you know for definite how many seats the stand has? Assuming the story about Rovers selling 1600 season tickets is true, it’s going to be very tight for games against ourselves and Pat’s (the only teams who will bring a sizeable away support) when you factor in segregation. I would suspect that no Dublin derbies will be played there until there is more than one side to the ground.

So even thought they’re having a stadium built for them, they still cant even manage to do it right?

Embarrassing.
Maybe not, but of course i was just pulling NCC on it and his lack of foresight. I don’t believe you, or any other club or supporter, owe Cobh (or anyone) anything. Your 100% right, its thier business to get things right, with support of LOI/FAI.

To answer the question. Its hard to know sledge. CXobh is the wrong town anyway. Its a small town compared to Middleton, Mallow or even Fermoy. In time Mallow (expected to populate to about 40,000 in next couple of years) possible could have a team, and maybe draw support from Mid, North & North West Cork. People from those areas either live at home or in Cork, so aren’t too far away. Whereas the people in west Cork would be too GAA orientated and also many of your hopeful supporters would live too far away.

Personally i’d (if i was an FAI man) be thinking of putting huge effort into Kerry, and having a team down there. They have more or less no interest in hurling, little enough playing base in rugby, but thriving soccer leagues. Alot of people down there would love soccer, and many i know would have it second to Gaelic Football. Basketball in the towns is probably the 2nd most supported sport in Kerry. Wouldn’t be too hard to drum up some of that crowd as well.
I think there is a market in Kerry for a team.
Interesting. Weren’t Tralee Dynamos (or something like that) close to entering the league a while ago? Would a Kerry-based team get any support from west Cork? I guess that Cork City don’t get much support from places there out west.

yes, it will be very tight if they dont put up a temporary stand

Bandage and NCC are seething I think :stuck_out_tongue:

the stadium is being builf for people in the RAPID areas of Tallaght

Rovers will be renting it on occasion - i think the dublin GGA should rent it now & again too as GGA is dying in Tallaght & it would be a boost that they need

Says the Laois man who got offended when we were slagging off John Hayes for marrying some beast female rugby player. That was pretty girlish. No need to be embarrassed. I’m already embarrassed for you.

Unlikely, there is actually a west cork league which has shed loads of teams, but it would be unlikely they would travel to Killarney or tralee to watch a Kerry team play

Badly rattled.

I know the girl, why wouldnt I stand up for her? Tis rich of you to call her a beast mind you.

Poor effort. I’ll be waiting your next one.

you know a female rogbee player ?

I suppose part of the idea would be to get a tradition of people going to games where there wasn’t one before.

:D
I have no idea what rogbee is?

I imagined it might be a shock to some people in here that some of us might be acquainted with members of the opposite sex alright.

Exposed badly here buddy.

its pushing it a bit to call a female rugby player a member of the opposite sex

Dont have me give you a biology lesson, just accept the fact that you should have finished primary school and move on.

Nice climbdown on the rugby thing by the way.

Difference between huff/seething and sticking up for something you believe in buddy, surely you know that? Yknow, when you changed your name from Fingal Raven?

Tis a poor aul effort you’re making here. Perhaps its time to go off and prepare for tomorrow at 12.45.
