count to 10 before you post next time mate

And we’re done. It was fun. Best of luck tomorrow at 12.45

sure don’t they have 2 hurling teams:D

Ya fair point, I just dont think Cork people would be interested in supporting a team based in Kerry made up of predominantly Kerry players.

Its a fair trek from anywhere in W Cork to Tralee anyways, less so to Killarney but a trek none the less.

TBH, I doubt there is any demand for a LOI team outside of Cork city, not in Cobh either.

LOI Clubs stoop to a new low as they fund raise for the up coming season.

This is quite sad, poor kids.

I wonder will they turn to their local GAA or rugby club now that they are disillusioned with LOI football clubs.

Runt you did well to grab this exclusive over NCC, he is normally very on the ball posting these stories

I think even NCC is embarrassed by this latest act. They can’t be trusted to sit together without fighting, they can’t be trusted to pay wages, they can’t be trusted with childrens money… very sad.

sure that lot cant even be trusted to allow the result of a match to be decided on the playing field.
no wonder it is followed by 2 men and a dog.

They have banned dogs from LOI gounds as well, expected 33% loss on attendences. Seems a strange move to me.

Missing 10,000 probed after Bohs axe children’s dream trip
By Louise Hogan

Wednesday February 18 2009

HEARTBROKEN children have been left out of pocket after thousands of euro paid to fund a dream trip went missing.

The youth director at Bohemian Football Club, based near Phibsboro in Dublin, confirmed that he club has contacted the gardai over the missing cash.

Angry parents have claimed that as much as 10,000 in booking fees and fundraising monies may be missing.

A trip to a soccer tournament in the sunny climate of Marbella, Spain, had been organised for 240 adults and children for this Easter.

However, before Christmas the trip was cancelled with the club, known by fans as the Bohs, refunding the monies.

However, Robert Loughlin, the youth director at the club, said that one of the youth team managers had made an excuse over the Christmas period as to why he could not refund the parents. All the other managers returned the deposits paid.

“The money went to the manager whom it appears did not return the monies to the parents and the players. We have tried to contact this man on numerous occasions from Christmas into the New Year and we were given all sorts of excuses as to why he couldn’t attend meetings and couldn’t return calls,” Mr Loughlin said.

Difficulty

In the first week of January, the club realised there was a difficulty and a formal complaint was made to the gardai at Mountjoy station.

Gardai yesterday confirmed an investigation into the matter was continuing.

Mr Loughlin said they had been intending to return the 2,520 paid by the parents for the trip but gardai had initially told him to not return the money as it would make any potential court proceedings null and void.

Yesterday, one mother, told RTE’s ‘Liveline’ that parents were owed 10,000 as they had also raised several thousand euro through race nights and other events which had been passed onto the manager.

“We did a lot of fundraising,” she said. “Basically nearly 10,000 has gone missing and nobody is taking responsibility.”

She said: “The trip was cancelled and the kids were very upset over it. We decided we would bring the children to a football match in England, a premiership match. Basically the money has gone.”

Mr Loughlin said the fundraisers were saying they raised the money with the manager as an agent of the club.

“We can’t refund the money that can’t be verified, I think most people would take that as acceptable,” Mr Loughlin told the Irish Independent.

“We haven’t verified anything past 2,500. Gardai will endeavour to do that,” he said, adding they felt they had a moral obligation to refund the monies to people. “We are going to continue to liaise with gardai and hopefully come to some sort of mutual agreement.”

The youth director said he had been provided with different figures amounting to 8,000 but the final sums had to be clarified.

Mr Loughlin said all managers at the club were vetted and worked on a voluntary basis.

He said a full review was currently under way at the club, and recommendations would be made following a report.

Ian Bermingham has revealed to setanta.com that he is close to signing for Shamrock Rovers.

The Republic of Ireland U-21 international played the full 90 minutes for The Hoops as they beat Dublin-based side Phoenix 2-0 in a pre-season friendly on Tuesday evening.

After breaking through the youth ranks at UCD, he made the left-back position his own for the past two seasons and attracted numerous plaudits for his displays.

Coca-Cola League One side Stockport County twice tried to sign him, but a deal fell through on both ocassions before he had commited himself to a move across the Irish Sea.

Bermingham has stated that he would prefer to stay in the League of Ireland as he wants to gain more experience at Premier Division level and he has not been short of suitors with three top flight clubs confirming their interest.

However, the most appealing offer to come his way this year has been from Shamrock Rovers and he is hoping that a deal can be finalised sooner rather than later.

“I’ve been offered a deal by Rovers, so hopefully I can get everything sorted out over the next few days and sign for them,” Bermingham told setanta.com.

"I have to go through a few details, but I think that I will sign for them in the next day or two.

"A few clubs have been in touch and I was away for a period. I was over with Stockport, but they are short of money right now so that fell through.

"Rovers are a fantastic club and it would be great to sign for them. I’ve been mulling over a few different proposals, but I want to stay in the Premier Division and play for a good club.

“Hopefully things can be sorted out and I can then focus on trying to break into the team. But nothing has been signed yet.”

Tallaght

A permanent stand is going on the far side. work will be starting on that asap but it wont be ready for the Dublin derbies. Not sure how many tickets the gypos will get for the derby

Surely nothing has changed on that front, and the amount of tickets we will get still depends on whether a temporary stand goes in or whether we are simply allocated a block of the Lego stand.

if im reading the forum right there wont be a temporary stand so you will be in the lego stand if you get an allocation

When you say this, is that another way of saying “not ready for the league start” as, sure most of the teams are from Dublin?
