Leinster Hurling Championship 2024

@ChairmanDan has Wexford connections

The knowledgeable Galway hurling fan knew this was coming.

Some great displays by the Wexford lads there & a comprehensive win. Nice to get a 16-point swing on Galway too if 3 teams end up on 7 points but we deserved to win by a fair bit more. Still though, it’ll probably be an Antrim-Kilkenny final.

The changes to the team worked well. Liam Ryan’s rugged physicality was a big addition, Eoin Ryan delivered an understated but quality performance at wing back, Richie Lawlor got through a lot of work & set up the goal & Jacko threw himself around on one leg.

I loved Chinner winning the puck out above Mannion at 1-23 to 0-21 & then pointing the free. Then re-enter ROC for 3 points in as many minutes to finish them off, the first when he hooked the defender & dispossessed him was terrific given we were down to 14 & he was bollixed. He was brilliant all told.

Chin missed a few long range frees but was very good otherwise & we got big improvements from the likes of Reck x2, Hearne (very industrious), McGovern & McDonald. Galway relied on frees from Niland & didn’t really look like bridging the gap with an extra man.

If we play like that in Carlow then we’ll be hard to beat.

ROC 1-6 from play was obviously crucial

Liam Ryan adding a bit of “defensive nouce” also important

Think that was Galway’s worst championship performance in well over a decade. 2nd half was shambolic. Time for Henry to return home and a bit of a clear out at the end of the championship.

This result really throws Leinster open tbf. Great to see teams are competitive, sayimg that galway are at nothing with Henry

Did Cathal Mannion play today?

No.

It’s nice to see the fun-runners that had moved on from following stick-stick coming back in their droves

Well done Wexford, it sounded like we were chronic.

The Emperor has no clothes.
Time for Henry to sling his hook.

Debatable. Most of last year was cat.

Shocking. Absolutely shocking set up.

He’s finished.

Hope to god they hold on to him for another few years. They looked like they had zero game plan today, zero. If ever you want to know how not to play with an extra man today would be a great example. Bringing on Flynn and Johnny Glynn and drive long balls into an area WX could get numbers to.
Has he brought through any young players?

Young lads haul of Galway training sliothars that were hit into the terrace. Delighted with himself

I only caught the last 15 mins on GBFM and it sounded chronic. No point in panicking, its a rebuild job from within and it wont be quick.
