Funnily I think croker suits galways forwards. Great side they are. Honest, strong, fit and skilled. Hopefully itâll be enough.
Wexford seemed very flat, but you had wexford backs trying to bully galway forwards who were just as big and strong.
he and the rest of the locals must be overawed.
some privilege in fairness, to be able to witness the galacticos in the flesh
Croker suits most teamâs forwards in fairness. Other teamsâ forwards wonât be as easily shut down by the Galway backs up there. Also, Galway have looked good but I believe the 5 next best teams after them are in Munster, provided they were fully fit
Quietened some of his wexford critics
Itâs mad to think but he might only be peaking now. Seems a decent sort on top of it all.
Disappointingly similar to the Leinster Final last year. Same margin and no doubt about the outcome from well before the end. Galway rightly think Wexford are weak under the high ball in the full back line so again launched puck out bombs down there in the first half.
Despite a 3 v 4 back there, Cooney (again) did serious damage. I thought we were second best physically for large parts of the game and got destroyed on the breaks from puck outs and generally around the field.
We also seemed to lack belief and it manifested itself in poor first touches (Chin for the goal) and some really snatchy efforts on goal (OâConnorâs first free and a smattering of other efforts from various players). We just got taught a lesson basically but lacked conviction ourselves too. Paudie Foley and Paul Morris were decent too but too many were off form or outplayed by their direct opponent.
The only real Wexford combination that worked today was Paud OâDwyer and James Owens in sending off Aaron Gillane there.
Have you seen corks backs ffs
Itâs hard to know where to start with that pal.
The sweeper system doesnât work against teams like Galway, Tipperary and Kilkenny. In the context of trying to win big hurling matches that is a problem.
Missing a 21 yard free at the very start has a disproportionately negative impact on a team.
Your club man is either carrying some kind of mental or physical injury but heâs a passenger at the moment and might be better off on the bench.
Clearly we decided to avoid a central attack on Galway and this forced us down the wings but this approach forced us over the side line on at least 6 times.
Our set up has totally alienated McDonald until we start launching desperate late balls into him late on. But doesnât seem the same player as @Gman says.
The referee was a prat but had no impact on the result.
Putting Donohoe on Cooney Š was absolutely insane.
So many basic handling errors. I wouldnât mind but I was really looking forward to that game too.
And the annoying know it all cunts behind me didnât help either.
They did make reference to McInerney having phenomenal pace though. That did make me chuckle.
Davy ruining another countyâs golden generation?
12 month manager. Kicks start the whole county but canât finish the job.
Yup, hard to argue with yours and @bandage summary too. I was hoping that today would be the game to really step up to the plate and show we are capable of at least contending, but weâre a long, long way off going by that.
Very few came out of the game with much positive credit. Having Liam Og back is good. But far, far too many of our âtopâ players were utterly anonymous. Chin by far the worst. His biggest issue right now is he has set himself up as a target, always in the media, the full time hurler, everyone is going to scrutinize his play far more than the rest. And even with that, he is still way off what was needed even allowing for the unnecessary hype.
The fumbling and poor passing, the terrible shot selection, just nothing was done well at all.
Big ask to go take Kilkenny out next week now after theyâve had the week off gunning to really put us back in our box
Those last four meetings are already old currency themselves. Cork are considerably better now than in 2015 which was their last meeting.
Galway have never beaten Cork in a final. They went into the 1986 and 1990 finals as warm favourites too, with their best ever team, and we know how those matches worked out.
Corkâs panel lacks depth and their defence can look ropey, but theyâre still likely to at least qualify comfortably from Munster and are finding out plenty about themselves along the way.
Galway havenât had any questions asked of them so far and are unlikely to before at least July 28th.
History shows itâs a very dangerous game to write Cork off in finals.
Laughing all the way to the bank
Heâs overachieving with that collection of players.
Corkâs modern history in finals from the 80âs onwards is a 50% winning record - 6 from 12. Theyâve lost the last two theyâve been in as well. Cork wonât be winning an All Ireland this year unless thereâs a radical improvement/overhaul of
their back line.
