I dont think so. Ulster Football Finals have been played in Croke Park alright.
Donât think so. Last time one was played outside Croke Park was 1961.
Have recollection of Wexford playing Dublin in Leinster semi final in early 2000s in Thurles
Brother Larry O Gorman getting 1, maybe 2 goals.
Should get big crowd for it, something for bored Tipp fans to watch
Weâve an U21 Hurling Final this week, mate. How are ye getting on filling the Trophy Cabinet this year?
Leinster semi final double header was played in Thurles in 2002 - Wexford v Dublin & Kilkenny v Offaly.
Pretty sure the Leinster hurling semi-finals in 2002 was a double header in Thurles. Canât recall if it was due to Hogan Stand redevelopment, pitch or concert issue. LarryO got 2 goals against Dublin. We lost the final to Kilkenny back in Croker by 19-17 and it was deemed a bit of a classic at the time. Thatâs now considered awfully low scoring and the 36 scores today came littered with wides and duffed efforts on goal.
Edit: the inimitable @GeoffreyBoycott got there ahead of me.
Wexford could have won that Leinster Final in 2002. Had a lot of bad wides when on top. A very untypical state of affairs in a Kilkenny v Wexford game. I can recall watching it in a bar in Dubai. Liam Dunne was sent off for the 3rd year in a row. Paul Codd got something like 14 points in that 17 point haul.
Might have been Rory Jacobs debut, brief sub appearance, I think.
I think Tony Dempsey was still manager and got elected as TD that year.
It pissed rain that day in Thurles too. Half the terrace left after the first game as we were soaked to the bone. I had to buy a change of clothes in a Penneyâs or whatever the equivalent was in Thurles at the time
Ben Sherman.
Intense battle.

Is that the best you could come up with
Galway were very lackadasical almost complacent today. Donât why that was, because it was an absolute certainty that Kilkenny would throw the kitchen sink at them. Iâd expect Galway to win the replay with a bit to spare. Kilkenny are really struggling in their forward line. The six starting forwards got just 0-4 from play today. Against Wexford the starting 6 forwards contributed just 0-1 from play and in Salthill it was 1-2 (the Walter Walsh goal right at the end). Bad and all as they were today Galwayâs starting 6 forwards contributed 0-13 from play and butchered a good few chances too.
Well, we got our cough softened for us today anyway.
No sign of the hard work or hunger that gave us the edge last year and yet we went 3 points ahead at one stage which I am finding hard to remember why right now.
Probably no harm for a wake up call but weâve come expect hunger and hard work from this Galway team and when it goes missing youâd be wondering if it can be reclaimed so easily again.
Not sure the management covered themselves in glory today either. Flynn and Concannon probably deserved to be brought in alot earlier.
Joe seemed to be carrying an injury which didnât help. I noticed he didnât fully participate in the warm up.
Flynn got a minute of ordinary time. I thought he must have been injured when i didnât see him.
The big difference here is free conversion rates. Galway 50% KK 75%
Scoring chances from play converted balances it out
