Kilkenny do seem to have a very high number of lads who could be on a Championship 26 away.
Huw Lawlor, Billy Ryan, Conor Browne, James Maher, Darren Mullen, Richie Leahy? Probably missing someone else. All lads in 28-30 bracket who should be the real leaders of the team.
No county could cope with that.
Will come back to this point in private. I would rather not discuss specific players going away in public.
They are entitled to do whatever they want on this front. As I am sure you agree, they are amateurs and not under contract. All of them gave years to Kilkenny hurling. And some of them gave many years.

Youâre being unfair to him. He was a very good hurler who captained a Kilkenny team to the Liam McCarthy, and won two other All Irelands. He managed his club to win a county title in a field that contained one of the best club teams of all time.

The sort of hilarious incident that made the GAA great.
It was proper honest, breaking hurleys over each otherâs legs and good manly punching to the face.
There was no badness at all in it. Sure how could there be, it was Kilkenny and Offaly, it was like two brothers play fighting.

Andy is just a proud Kilkenny man struggling to come to terms with the strange reality that Kilkenny are just not very good anymore. Iâm expecting some similar frustrated outbursts from ex Dublin Footballers in the not too distant future. Vinnie Murphy, Paul Curran and Keith Barr most likely candidates.

Kilkenny just have no strength in depth, exacerbated by the handful of players abroad. One or two of their starters yesterday wouldnât make some of the other panels.

Iâd imagine Ger Brennan is being saved from a kicking by the fact that heâs mates with most of the Dubs in the media.
Was he someone from outside the group theyâd be calling for his head.
Itâs an impossible job, but he does seem out of his depth
Iâd never begrudge a lad going travelling when they can; I speak as someone who didnât take a chance to go off somewhere for a few months or a year in my 20s. Theyâll be long enough working, settling down with families etc.
Usually the ones who complain in the same manner as Andy Comerford are those who didnât bother seeing the world themselves. âTravel broadens the mindâ is probably one of the truest clichĂŠs

I dunno. He won a first Leinster title in 50 years with Louth last year. Ill discipline aside I think he is as good as whats available.
