He’s painfull prone to hamstring issues and the advice is eternally to rest it. It’s the six of one etc syndrome. How would any of us like going out bursting your hole day in day out and then and you’re in excruciating pain for ages and going through the rehabbing process while fuckers are saying you’re a handicap case/ useless/ brittle/ lazy - the usual moaners.
He’s an incredible talent that’s a bitéén injury prone.
More to life lad than football, especially in D4. (Not the Shrewsbury Road one).
Two of our best players over the last 20 years, Michael McGuinness and Declan Maxwell, are now both crippled with injury. And for what? Maxwell came on against Mayo in 2006 about a month after an ACL operation - still caused havoc though!
I remember that. He was some warrior. Unfortunately Drumreilly are beginning to struggle for numbers but that’s the case with all rural clubs. John Mac and Maxwell were outstanding representatives of the club. They have tremendous facilities by the way….
They were two fabulous footballers. I would say our two best actually since Seamus Quinn.
I saw Maxwell play as a teenager in a senior championship match for Drumreilly against Carrick in Shane McGettigan park. It was a ‘who is this guy’ type moment.
The Cap quietened him a bit in the second half. Say what you want about the Cap but he was a good Club player.
But by God, come hell or high water they’ll have the competitions concluded on schedule to avail of the cursory nod of approval from Herr Prenty as the Connacht schedule kicks in.
A 2 year term for this bluffer - fuck me… A shake up at U-20 mightn’t be a bad thing….
It’ll never be the manager that’s the issue. It’s the tight-fisted attitude of the C/B.
Proper structures ( S&C programmes, skills, nutrition) need to be followed through on. There must be 100 lads going round the place in official county GAA gear all wearing €100+ trainers and happy out. Tighter squads, cut the chaff and throw the money at the structures rather than participants. Too many happy to join these squads and jog along. Make the management team accountable.
If fenagh had bate them last week theyd be looking at relegation. They play a shit brand of football anyways. LG will cruise to the semi then shit the togs.
