No it doesnât. Hard to see a future for much longer.
Amalgamation is creeping into the conversation of late. The options for yourselves are the big bad townies that yeâre already not fond of and who, if anybody else. Carrick another unsavoury optionâŚâŚ
Weâre somewhat better off with Kiltubrid, Drumreilly and Cloone on our doorsteps. Weâll keep going another decade solo Iâd imagine but who knowsâŚAll terribly sad really when it comes to thisâŚ.

So Manor are fielding 3 senior teams - impressive.
I inadvertently left out the Neddies out of an amalgamation opportunity.
Oddly thereâs pucks of clubs around us while Farmerâs lads are trapped by two of the big three. No fear of clubs with 3 senior menâsâŚâŚ

Would St Osnats try to do a Jesus Christ and rise from the dead? Always meant to ask what happened them after getting a new pitch built, guessing numbers werenât there but if Manor get get 3 teams out etc
Originally they were made up of Manor Rangers soccer players who werenât serious about Gaa and a few locals who would now be playing Junior C for Manor.One of the best pitch surfaces in Leitrim afaik

Eslin are in a precarious situation.
The usual situation of a spike of births around a certain time, including some excellent footballers, with little activity for a number of years and then with a small spike of births again.
So at the moment the majority of our lads are between the 32 to 42 range with a scatter in the early to mid 20âs.
Of course life has got serious for the 32-42 group with kids and mortgages etc and hence commitments to training are pretty non existent and thus attracting any coach of merit becomes pretty impossible.
We are still plugging away but I would say in five years, as the 32-42 bunch dwindles, we will be in big trouble to survive.

Would hate to see ye go but donât think anyone in Leitrim gaa outside of your club cares about your situation, as long as the big guns keep gunning theyâre happy and to hell with the small fish. Likes of glenfarne and drumreilly, probably Cloone would not have a conveyor belt of young lads in the pipeline either

Not meant as an insult, have great time for Eslin. Until itâs easier to build in rural areas where people grew up, is there any solution to declining populations and numbers in gaa clubs? Itâs planning laws thatâs getting you, sure the towns have all swelled in population.
Less Sitka and more houses is the solution.If that doesnt happen youâll just see the town teams get stronger and the rural clubs either fold or almalgamate

I think the survival of Eslin means as much to me as it does to Farmer.
The future of every rural club matters to everyone who grew up with the love of the land and the love of the people they grew up with.
Big town teams are laws onto themselves. They will continue to gather in anyone the see with a smidgen of potential at the expense of that persons natural affiliations. Rural clubs are all under pressure with current regulations and by the time these are addressed it may be too late for some.
