This needs to be brought up at each and every gathering of Eslin folk.
Bitterness is essential to the survival of all rural clubs let no one tell you different.
Weāve gotten Leitrim Gaels in the semi - they beat us with a last ditch 2 pointer in the round robin so I suppose weāre in with a shout. Be great to see SOH turn over Mohill - an SOH / Fenagh final would be epic.
Iād be all for taking it out of Pairc SeĆ”n and playing it in Cloone or Drumreilly and making a complete local derby out of itā¦.Im getting ahead of myself nowā¦
Thereās a lot of folk with feet in both camps through marriage etc and who take the view of āwhy canāt we all get alongā.
The younger generation and some of the older ones in Mohill are sound as a pound. I know them well. I went to school went them. But canāt bring myself to support them, other than once they get out of Leitrim and Iām all behind them.
Relegation final tomorrow. Manor deservedly favourites to survive with the quality they have in Big Barry, Kelly and McBride, all lads whoāll wear the jersey with pride and honour in the future.
On a personal level I have nothing but empathy for the Willies. A solitary title in the 20ās (Kiltyhugh) was followed by 11 more from the mid - 70ās culminating in wins in 14,16 and 18 backboned as ever by their legendary families the Quinns, Flanagans, Plunketts, Priors and Gilheaneys.
Times and circumstances change. The national school is down to 30 (16 cailinĆ agus 14 bĆŗachalli) which doesnāt augur wellā¦Theyāre a sub-parish of Ballinamore as are The Neddies (Aughnasheelin) and indeed Drumreilly both of whom has aspirations of senior football in the future.
They have been robust competitors over the past half century. There was the epic day in the fog (you couldnāt see either set of posts from the halfway line) against Clann na Gael where supporters ran fearlessly into the murk to get a clatter at an opponent, to stopping in Fenagh on the way home with the Fenagh Cup rather than in the town itselfā¦.
Some of our tribe are entwined with these, the finest of peopleā¦
The history of the club is worth a read actuallyā¦
As is their wonāt the Willies arenāt giving up without a battle. They lead Manor 0-13 to 2-06 at the sos beag. Tom Plunkett with 9 points from play. Be the greatest upset of all time if they pull it offā¦ā¦
The Willies havenāt scored in about 15 minutes. Manor just had too much quality and young legs for them. Just the 13 points in it at the end.
Theyāve come back before but times were different thenā¦ā¦ @Massey will be in sparkling form later (the ****)
I was watching from home and to be honest was a small bit worried when we went 8-0 down. But i knew when we went in a point down weād win tbf.Im sorry to see the relegated but it was them or us and with the 8 team group its very fine margins. We were hoping to be play a quarter final this weekend but thems the breaks.Another year for our youn lads to mature a bit both physically and mentally.
On a side note if ye get chance to see Jack Kellys pass inside to Evan Sweeney for our first goal check it out, sublime.
Seen that, thereās been a few reversals of that kind at this level. Would guess a few senior subs are being held back for bigger days out but junior is very who you have on the day, another day it could be a lot closer
