Popular Carrick-on-Shannon resident Tom āthe well known manā Stokes has passed away. Tom was a colourful character who plied his tinsmith skills the length and breadth of the county in his younger days.
In recent years he could be spotted seated outside his house engaging in conversation with all and sundry. Itās pleasing to read some of the glowing tributes to him on RIP.ie from the many who encountered him in life.

Well the late Mary and himself had 19 children of their own so it was a solid enough launching pad. Hopefully he got a rousing send-off and if there were any unpleasantries it wouldnāt have come from Tomās side.
I heard Carrick was shut down this weekend.

Each of the 19 had around on average 7 kids and each of the 142 grandkids had around an average of 8 kids.

Thatās the forensic accountant in youā¦. I suppose after the shenanigans in Portlaoise at the cemetery Mass they were anxious to prevent any nasty altercations yesterday or todayā¦The late Tom was a tremendously popular figure but these things take on a life of their own at times.
