Gerrard is not a leader. “They didn’t perform for me”. A proper leader would have said something like “we win as a team and we lose as a team. We’ll come together and sort this out …”.
His immediate interview seemed to be taking responsibility but by the time he was talking later it was all about the players not wanting to win as much as he does. He can’t seem to motivate them outside of a handful of big games.
I think he recognized that in the interview and hence his reaction to have think about things.
He was an emotional player…you need more than that for management tho Stevie lad.
Scotland was a decent place for Gerrard to wet his toes in football management . He will now need to get a championship club down south to see if he can cut it as a manager .
He needs to recognise that very few of his players have actually won a league or know what it takes… and with that maybe just the odd time acknowledge the team they are competing against has bucket loads of that experience… But no, Gerrard thinks he’s playing some genius mind games by not mentioning the name Celtic in a lot interviews…
