Would be interesting to see what a different manager could do with Sevco. They are good in the big games but whether that’s because they are more motivated or because it suits their style of play I don’t know. Celtic are very consistent against the shit teams tbf
Is there any real died in the wool flute blowing billy boy on the current Rangers team . I mean a nasty bomber brown , Ian Ferguson , Barry Ferguson , type .
Yes
Allan McGregor is a despicable specimen.
Yer man Andy Halliday is the prototype you mention. Grew up in the “shadows of Ibrox” etc. Think McGregor is a big hun too. Not sure about other jockos in their squad. Steven Davis apparently supported them growing up in Ballymena. Is Arfield a hun @Rocko?
No. Arfield is Celtic leaning by background I think. But like Neil McCann he’s determined to embrace all the trappings of hunnery to fit in better.
Halliday is probably the most die hard but he’s brutal so he’s a figure of fun more than anything.
Informative rating.
yes but no outfield hard man . A proper Rangers man like.
I never heard of Andy Halliday till now !!
I don’t think he’s cut out for management from what little evidence has been presented thus far. He might do relatively ok in Scotch football or League One or maybe even the championship, but he won’t be a top, top EPL manager
I think it’s a bit generous to say the huns are good in big games. They’ve been good/effective in SOME big games, probably more so this season than last in fairness to them, but they’ve capitulated in others. Yesterday was a massive game for them and they bottled it. Celtic at home in August was the same. Losing at Tynecastle in their first league test after the winter break this season having signed off before Christmas with a derby win. Getting knocked out of the cup at home to Aberdeen last season too.
Mentioned it on the Europa League thread but they’ve developed a spoiling system against better teams that can be effective (like a pound shop Liverpool and equally boring to watch - hard running, concerted team pressing, quick breaks based on less possession) but they lack creativity and can’t deal with expectation when they’ve to take charge of a game. They went out with a whimper yesterday.
But their Europa League results have been good over two years overall in two very tight groups and that’s shielding Gerrard a bit at the moment.
Leverkusen will give them a bit of a going over I feel.
When I said big games, I meant games against good teams
Any of ye listen to ‘Open Goal’ on YouTube with Si Ferry (ex celtic player). Ferguson would be on it, seems a decent fella to be fair & keeps the bias out of it as much as he can.
Big step up from the Scotland Premier League to the second tier of English soccer. Neil Lennon and Alan Stubbs two of the most successful managers in Scotland in the last decade couldn’t cut it at Bolton Wanderers or Rotherham United.
Yeah, I was just correcting you.
Lennon couldn’t cut it at Hibs either.
I think you make some fair points there but you’re over complicating it. This chap qwerty has got the solution for the huns:
What a shock! Stevie G says he’s staying and now isn’t the time to walk out when the club and supporters need him!
It’s almost like he was creating a diversion after another failure and it’s a transparent attempt to generate a reaction from the players.
And two lovely games coming up next to show they are united once more …
Allan’s dad’s a proddie
he thought his son was gay
the son he always wanted
was Andy Halliday
