Because they don’t want the season to resume. They think they can get the season declared void instead of complete if they can’t finish it.
That’s hilarious.
You used to hear stories about teams putting cattle grazing on their pitches to make them more difficult for the opposition to play on. Sevco are taking it to extremes.

Some lad cut down the goalposts in Askeaton field before an upcoming local derby where the visitors were missing a few players and wanted it rescheduled.
Digging up your pitch is a bit extreme though. Especially since they are broke
