Let's All Laugh At Sevco Thread

Duff and Phelps, joint administrators of Rangers Football Club, issued the following statement on the outcome of the SFA disciplinary hearing.

Paul Clark, joint administrator, said: "All of us working on behalf of the Club are utterly shocked and dismayed by the draconian sanctions imposed on Rangers in respect of these charges.

"It appears that on one hand the disciplinary panel accepted our central argument that responsibility for bringing the Club into disrepute lay with the actions of one individual - Craig Whyte - as is evident from the unprecedented punishment meted out to him.

"During this hearing the Club produced compelling evidence from a number of sources that following his takeover, Craig Whyte ran the Club in a thoroughly unaccountable manner, rather than adhering to a long-established and proper form of corporate governance.

"The thrust of the charges against the Club focused on non-payment of payroll taxes and evidence was produced that all such decisions in this area were taken by Craig Whyte during his tenure.

"Given this evidence, it is difficult to comprehend that the disciplinary panel has seen fit to effectively punish the Club even more heavily than Mr Whyte. As everyone knows, it has already been decided he is not a fit and proper person to run a football club and any further punishment on him will have little or no impact.

"However, for Rangers, a ban on signing players will seriously undermine the Club’s efforts to rebuild after being rendered insolvent.

"Furthermore, we do not know how bidders for the Club will react to these sanctions and what affect they will have on their proposals.

"The Club has asked for full written reasons for these decisions and intend to appeal against the findings.

But was this whole thing not going for years? Well before Craig Whyte?

This SFA investigation was purely looking at the Whyte tenure, non-payment of payroll taxes etc.

The SPL are reviewing the hidden / dual contracts situation and the use of Employment Benefit Trusts to evade taxes - that still has to fully play out.

Looks like the huns will have a team of U18s representing them next season. The first team squad have taken wage cuts to the end of the season but they’ll all fuck off at that stage because the club won’t be able to pay them. And then they can’t sign anyone other than youngsters because of this transfer ban.

Whyte, the utter legend, says: “I couldn’t care less. It makes no difference to my life whatsoever - and good luck collecting the money.”

Saw this on Twitter.

Rangers FC, first team squad 2012/13:

McCoist and Lafferty have had a bust up. Lafferty’s been suspended for 2 weeks.

It’s gas how they shift the blame between Whyte and Murray depending on how they want to avoid punishment. Even when the administrators were called in they were all still backing Whyte and blaming a legacy tax bill. Now it’s all his fault.

Seems like a reasonable enough punishment for the payroll offences that have occurred in the Whyte era. Remains to be seen what will be done about the rest.

I presume they’ll actually hold onto a few more players now though. They won’t be spending any money on transfer fees or agents fees or signing on fees so it might give them a bit more into their operating budget to try and negotiate new contracts with the current squad. I do love seeing them hurting though.

Fans of the Rangers are apoplectic with rage over the SFA verdict and are planning to boycott sponsers of the governing body.

William Hill,Greggs and Tennants will all be gearing up for a big drop in revenue soon.

As usual the “peepul” are blaming everyone except the ones who put them in this predicament in the first place, the dense coonts.

Heard a rumour that HMRC are in court today to try and have Duff and Phelps removed as admininstrators.

Duff and Phelps were buddies of Whyte originally. They’ve managed to earn themselves significant fees while presiding over very little in terms of progress. All we’ve had so far is a queue of investors lining up to declare themselves out of the running or to impose hilarious preconditions on their acquisition of the club.

Do you not think this will make players more likely to leave than stay? The club is only surviving until the end of the season because the first team squad took 75% wage cuts or deferrals and they’re not going to accept that on an ongoing basis. Most of them apparently had clauses written into the revised contracts allowing them to leave for knock-down prices if i) their wages didn’t revert back to their usual amount by a specified time and/or ii) they remained in administration beyond a specified time. A transfer ban makes them a less attractive acquisition for an investor (notwithstanding the fact that most of these prospective bids seem to be no more than publicity stunts) and I think it makes it more likely they’ll remain in a complete mess. I reckon there’ll be an exodus of players and they’ll be left with a youth team.

I do hope that’s what happens Bandage. I could just see a martyr or two hanging on and hoovering up everyone’s wages because they’ll be paying the kids nothing.

Maybe so. There were those rumours a while back (before the 75% cut / deferral en masse) that Lee McCulloch was offering to play for free. Type of thing the huns would lap up and allow him to dine off for the rest of his life. We’ll see.

Duff and Phelps had another go at the SFA today in a statement, including making references to the treatment of Rangers being bad for the ‘game in Scotland’. The STV Sport lads are very good (and neutral) on Twitter - a few of them made the point that the administrators are meant to be protecting the value for creditors rather than commenting on the fucking game in Scotland. Seems an awful odd set up with them.

McCoist was seething with the punishment and is demanding to know the names of the people on the independent panel that decided on the case. :o

Sensational stuff from Celtic.

Story about season ticket renewals on the official club site and one of the footnotes says:

*Applies to Under-13 Opt-out and Under-13 Special Season Tickets which exclude games against Rangers FC (or a successor to it).

So:

 • The independent and anonymous judicial panel system was signed up for by all SPL clubs.
 • The huns know who the 3 members who heard their case are; they presented their case to the panel.
 • McCoist’s reaction calling for them to be outed wasn’t a heat of the moment one & it came nearly a day after the findings were issued.
 • It was a deliberate and considered response trying to put heat on them to force the SFA to review their decision.
 • And now they’ve all received death threats from deranged huns after a witch hunt over the past day and the police have visited them all to speak about personal safety.
 • Of course the huns have previous for this type of behaviour.
 • McCoist is a sly cunt, throwing something like this into the mix and then sneaking off.
 • I await to see the ex SFA officials and referees rushing to the press to condemn McCoist the way they do with other managers.

Apparently the flow of donations from sister clubs linfield and bohemians is still ongoing.
Can they get players on a bosman if there is no fee involved?

Alex Thompson goes to town on McCoist in his latest blog. What a great addition to sports journalism the man has been:

So everything’s relative. Even Rangers…

I’ve waited a day or two to write this. And I write on the train from Amsterdam to The Hague to witness the first ever head of state receiving sentence for war crimes.

And from outwith Glasgow the perspective’s glaring.

Faced with a judicial process at the Scottish Football Association and a due appeal process (active now) to be heard before a retired judge or QC – faced with all that, what does the Rangers manager Ally McCoist do?

Bide his time? Seek appeal advice? Reserve comment on an obviously sub-judicial procedure?

No – he suddenly demands on Rangers TV on Tuesday that the Scottish Football Association panel which imposed a 12 month ban on the club buying players be identified in public.

As an act of such irresponsibility in the current climate beggars belief. Like so many in this drama Mr McCoist goes “public” in an environment where I doubt he’ll never be properly questioned.

Far from letting due process happen and preparing the case for appeal, Mr McCoist chooses a lynch mob approach potentially putting the safety of these people at risk.

It’s an action redolent of the lack of reality, prudence, judgement and moral decency which has characterised so much of a club that’s brought the game into deep disrepute. Moreover, some might observe that Mr McCoist’s inflammatory tantrum is in itself likely to bring the club and himself into disrepute.

Will Mr McCoist be equally “public” in facing up to the responsibility of what he’s done? Given the cowardice of his initial act, you have to say it’s doubtful.

Mr McCoist and Rangers need another reminder that even Glasgow football is now living in the 21st century. Rules get applied – even to Rangers. Outside Glasgow football where else would anyone in normal public life question the independence of the panel as he did – then call for them to he named for the mob? Yet the sheer and obvious outrage his actions should provoke raises little adverse comment in the city. No – so much attention remains focused on the astounding fact that a club that broke rules got punished. Doh!

Small wonder it leaves SFA chief executive saying the rules will be applied without fear or favour. But why should he have to? In any normal world this is a given and accepted. In Glasgow football the man imposing the rules has to say he’ll do his job as if it’s news.

Meanwhile, if I get time in the small matter of a war crimes court, I shall ask the SFA if they intend charging Ally McCoist with bringing the game into dispute for questioning the SFA’s motives, independence and arguably, putting the safety of its independent panel at risk.

Meanwhile… Charles Taylor… Sierra Leone… mass rape… child soldiers… death by machete… and a city and a court where yes, they apply the rules without fear or favour and they don’t feel the need to say so.

Thomson has absolutely nailed the issue, and McCoist too, in that smashing piece. Where are all the Scottish journalists?

Sandy Jardine. What a hun cunt. Thickly veiled threats to other clubs. Not a hint of humility - shameless bastards. Talking about taking action against the very same clubs they’re likely to be depending on to allow ‘new co’ to stay in the SPL.

From STV:

“Having gone round and met a lot of the supporters and people within the club, I think people are absolutely sick and tired of everybody having a kick at us when we’re down.

"We are going to have a meeting with all the delegates from the whole of Britain, and some of them will be flying in from abroad, on Saturday.

“Out of that, the supporters will take sanctions against clubs which we deem have been unfair to ourselves.

"I’m not going to go into the actual details but we will probably announce that after the meeting with the supporters clubs.”

"Also the Fighting Fund last night sanctioned money to fund a QC to fight the case against the SFA.

"Everybody is sick and tired of just accepting everything that everybody is throwing at us and it’s about starting to fight back.

“The size of our club and the size of our supporter base, it can be a powerful weapon.”

brilliant article- its so sweet that after all these years the HFA are at last applying the rules and the huns cant get away scott free anymore
