Anything to be said for only allowing a handpass off a hurl?
the throwing is some joke and farce now, is it that the referees cannot see it as game is so fast or are afraid to call it?
I am struggling for a solution other than ban the handpass altogether and go hurley pass only!! is that too drastic?!
That’s the solution.

yes
The Waterford 2021 side would be considerably better than the Kilkenny 2008 side.
The game has moved on.
For all the talk of money, it’s interesting to note the breeding of this current crop from Limerick.
The side is backboned by Quaid, Nash, Flanagan, Hegarty and Lynch who are all sons or nephews of former players and in some cases legends.
Very similar to the Dublin Football team of the last decade in that regard.
I thought that was a good suggestion but I think it was @Big_Dan_Campbell that pointed out that lads would then have no way to get the ball away when they got tied up and so it it would create more problems than it would solve.
same with the overhead bat
We coach kid’s the skill and even saw it employed Sunday, one by Byrne’s at some point.
Not sure it’s less frequently employed due to reffing. Moreso not employed due to higher risk of turning over possession in dangerous area

I was thinking that myself, lads would just end up throwing the ball when they’re bottled up, or “dropping” it in a certain direction
And Finn
It would actually help Limerick whose backs are sharp hurlers. They’d have won by even more at the weekend with that rule.
Last 15 years odd
Sheflin, JJ Delaney, Tommy Walsh, Richie Power, Eoin Larkin, Fast Eddie, Hickey
Lynch, Finn, Hayes, Byrnes, Hegarty, Tom Morrisey, Hannon, Gillane
Who had more elite players?
KK 08 played in a funny era too, Cork on way down, Tipp not there yet; albeit, they took Cork down
Looking back, Clare 13’ and Tipp 10’ obviously achieved a lot but the latter especially could’ve done more. I thought Clare shouldve beaten Cork the first day in 13’ and their Limerick performance was breathtaking. Burned out very quick.
The 1234 of the last 15 years for me, Tipp 3, Clare 4. Clare just because I thought they’d the makings of a great team and for that short spell they were brilliant. I couldn’t call between Limerick and KK, Limerick should be on for 4 in a row really, but I’d say KKs 3 best of Henry, JJ and Tommy Walsh are better than Limerick’s 3 best. KK obviously had the longevity as well and overcame Tipp 10’ on their way down. Probably KK just for me now, played in a deeper era though Limerick have set themselves apart in their own time.
The Galway team under Donoghue were a better and more consistent team than Clare in 2013. Clare hurled very well that year but didn’t give another performance of any real note again until 2018
Wasn’t me. To be honest the rule should be changed so that it is two clear and obvious motions - a release and a striking action. All too often it is just lads opening their fingers and then pushing the ball with their palms in the same motion, I’m guilty of doing it myself.
Refs should then look to enforce - blow for anything where they don’t see two clear actions or the ball clearly leave the hand before bein handpassed. Things would change pretty quick
Yeah that’s pretty much it. And it’s being coached that way, which is fairly disheartening.
The steps ones is bizarre. Take 10 steps in a straight line, no problem amigo. Take 6 steps twisting and turning back and forth in a small area, that’s a free my friend.
Steps is also being coached. It happens too much for it not to be. Lads rise the ball in space with nobody near them and must be told to sprint with the ball in hand to get into further space. You can find examples on any team game to game. Michael Carey, Calum Lyons, Sean Finn. It’s completely baffling how it is being allowed to happen.
Yeah, Steps is easy enough to fix too. Make it time based, anything longer than 4 Mississippis blow that fucker dead
Limerick achieved the cloak of invincibility on Sunday that descended on Kilkenny in 2008. They have now beaten all comers and put a noisy and presumptuous band of insurgents back in their box in the way that Kilkenny dealt with Waterford in 2008.
Have they beaten KK in the championship? Was 1973 the last time they did this?
Shefflington, & Dj we’re household names
Not one limerick player would be recognised in Dublin
