Hopefully. Heās still only 22 so plenty of time for him.
Tom Morrissey regaining his form? Has he lost form?
The more I look at that team above & bench I think probably in excess of 10 points.
Tomās form varies wildly from one half to the next. He generally works his hole off but his implied success is generally derived from whether or not his four or five shots go over from out the field
Correct me if Iām wrong - but I see no defender of any kind on the bench? Connolly can play at 7, maybe. You wouldnāt want to be picking up any injuries in defence.
Nothing against Dan Morrissey, I know heās lined out there before, but FB is the most specialist position on the field. It takes a knack to playing there, Iām not sure itās a knack Dan has, judging by his previous outings at 3.
I definitely wouldnāt do that; Iād do the switch between the lines. Probably Dan to 6 and bring on one of the young fellas. Now, it probably wonāt happen and they wonāt make subs there unless there is an injury youād imagine but that would be the swap Iād make.
Kyle will probably move back there eventually but why would you when you have Hannon?
Also Kyleās work rate & pace are absolutely vital in the middle third atm; would be hard-pressed to replace that if he was in the backs sitting.
Play a corner back and try to get through tomorrow. Give someone practice in the position. Tipp will go to town on Nash. Clare could.
The back subs are Boylan, OāGrady & Connolly.
Hanley is the midfield sub (DOD & Connolly can also cover here if necessary).
HF subs are DOD, Reidy & Boylan.
FF subs are Flanagan, Simon & Breen.
Lads, relax. Itās Clare.
The thoughts of Callanan or Forde going out on to Nash. Jesus. If Lohan put Cunningham out onto him he could do wreck
A team that we do struggle with.all this talk of who Clare are missing is unhelpful and distracting.if we lose a defender early into the game our replacements have never been tested at this level which is a worry.this will be a very tough game.
would I be right in saying there is a serious lack of pace in the backs? Especially the half back line + Dan is quick in straight lines but if he gets turned or isolated he is fucked. I have visions of Kearney burning him down his wing a good few times with a bit of a step
Weāll need goals Iād say
Very surprised Brian Ryan hasnāt made the matchday panel of 26. He very much looked the part in games he came on either as a substitute or started in the Munster hurling league and the national hurling league. The management team will be looking to Seamus Flanagan to fill the void vacated by Shane Dowling and make a huge impact off the bench. Conor Boylanās aerial ability will be a huge asset as well if heās introduced as a substitute and he probably will be midway through the second half. If Willie OāMeara was still on the panel heād probably be starting in the full back line with all the players that usually play in that line of the field ruled out because of injury. All going well heāll be back on the panel next year.
Well he always works hard thatās for sure but we badly need him to chip in with scores. Against Kilkenny last year when our system wasnāt working we had nobody to come up with scores out of nothing. Wod, Kyler and Hegarty are not really natural scorers and in very tight games when space is at a premium they can struggle a little to get them.
DOD is a huge loss in the middle of the park. He makes limerick tick and has the ability to score from longe range plus is good at sideline cuts. In games that are often decided by one score those attitudes are huge.
At the moment if you keep hannon and Lynch quiet youāll go a long wait to beating limerick. That said Clare personal wise look very weak on paper.
Byrnes and POL will chip in with a few scores. They almost always do.
Iād argue the Kyle Hayes point as well. There hasnāt been many days where he hasnāt chipped in with a fair amount of scores. Hegarty the same.
If the ball is given in to the full forward line, every man in there is capable of creating and making a score.
Whatās the thinking with Nash at Corner-back? Seemed to be hurling well at wing-back but corner back is very restrictive for a lad whoās played most of his hurling in the forwards.
I wouldnāt say we have electric pace in the backs, but theyāre no slouches generally. Dan is a bit slow on the turn alright, which is why I fear for him at FB. POL is similar.
But Nash, Finn, Byrnes all well able to move. Most backlines donāt have ridiculous raw paceā¦ it is one thing that Costello would bring, heās very quick out of the blocks.
Nash looked very attacking for a wing back like. I donāt get it at all.
full backs and corner backs are generally explosive over the few yards, they wouldnāt be great over a longer sprint. Dan and Nash mightnāt have that explosive speed needed for the full back line, the burst at the right time.
