Half time in NCW.

Effin 1-10 Granagh Ballingarry 0-10

Patrick O’Donovan has got most of the scores for Effin, including a clinically finished goal after a good passing move. John Kealy has been marking him for the entire half and G/B will need to do something if they going to curtail him in second half. Jack Quaid & Tommy Quaid have also chipped in with points.
Darragh Casey at 9 has been powerful for G/B. Cathal O’Keefe also doing well, with 2 great points.

This one will go to the wire although Effin have been a little more clinical in attack.

Serious player in fairness.

Nickie has just scored a serious point for Effin to put them 4 up.

It’s second water break here in NCW. The scoreboard says 1-13 to 0-13 for Effin. But we reckon it should read 0-14 for G/B. Cathal O’Keeffe got a point 5 mins ago and it didn’t appear on the scoreboard.

I stand corrected, the effort was wide. Scoreboard is correct.

I think the scoreboard is right now; it was right but had given a point for Cathal O’Keeffe that he had put wide early in the second half.

Goal for Effin, think it might have been Paddy O’Donovan again, bit of a scramble in the end.

That could be that.

John O’Grady has just made a great save from Paddy Donovan, he’s fair lively. And Donovan scores another great point. Lovely feet.

Sheer class from Paddy O’Donovan, what a point from the right wing. Some hurler.

Long-range free from G/B ends up in the net, sun in the eyes of the goalkeeper. Goal in it in stoppage time.

Being the Effin goalie is a tough gig :grinning:

It was 15 Tommy Quaid who put it in after an initial good block by John O’Grady in goals.

The goal came just that bit too late for G/B, although it did give them momentum in the final stages. Effin were marginally more economical with their chances. G/B had a 7 or 8 minute spell just before the second water break where they hit 4 wides in a row. They needed those to go over. Thought G/B played quite deep too, often with only one man inside. They didn’t get close enough to goal to manufacture many goal opportunities. G/B were more direct with their play whereas Effin worked it through the lines a bit more. 9 for Effin, can’t recall the name (Fergal O’Connor maybe?) was very good at doing the simple things. Laying off ball, finding a man in space, drawing the foul.
