A club like Kilmallock would expect to be hurling in October.

Pretty amateur hour stuff to be organising a wedding at this time of the year.

Yerrah you have an idea when the season is.

Only saw stuff day of. I highly doubt it went any further

At the water break: Effin 0-7 Croagh/Kilfinny 0-4.

A very enjoyable contest so far, despite the conditions. Effin have the wind but the rain is falling and making it difficult.

Croagh started the better but Effin took over then. They’re making use of the wind, taking a lot of early shots and their accuracy has generally been good. Barry Lenihan beat Paddy O’Donovan to the first few balls that went inside, but O’Donovan scored a lovely point with the next one and also set up a great score for Ruairi O’Connor. O’Connor has three from play, Jack Quaid has two, Nickie has been excellent at centre-back.

David Lynch scored a monster free for Croagh. Their half-back line of Josh O’Connor, Tom McMahon and Seamus Hickey have been very prominent but struggling to make inroads inside, although the wind is definitely a factor.

C/K have plenty possession but are overplaying the ball in middle of the park. Effin picking off some great long range scores.

11-6 after 25 mins.

C/K are playing a lot of aimless stuff. Effin very efficient in the forwards. ROC and POD are excellent

Half-time: Effin 0-13 Croagh/Kilfinny 0-6

The wind is a major factor so this is far from over but Effin definitely used the conditions very well. Their shooting from out the field has been excellent. Jack Quaid is now on three aswell, PJ Herr added one which is seven from play from half-forward & Fergal O’Connor has two aswell. FOC has been excellent, Effin’s work rate has been excellent and are winning a lot of turnovers in the middle.

Croagh look like they have to run through the lines, that’s where their strengths lie but because of the breeze, they’re not easily getting into scoring positions. When they try to deliver the ball inside, Effin have numbers everywhere. Effin are holding their shape and their forwards are dropping deep and the same is happening for Croagh but it just means Croagh have been delivering from too deep onto the spare men. I probably would have moved Hickey to half-forward against the wind because he has the ability & confidence to actually go past two or three fellas.

The Barry Lenihan vs Paddy O’Donovan battle is great stuff to watch, Barry has won more of the balls gone in but POD just has a real touch of class about him and has two lovely points. Tommy Quaid has been quiet for Effin. C/K can’t panic, they’ll be able to deliver the ball inside and pick off scores from distance more easily in the second half. Do they have the same shooters that Effin have? I don’t know…

Maybe he believed all the people who said Kilmallock were finished?

Very good analysis.

Barry Lenihan doing a good job on POD. PJ Herr is doing untold damage though. Breeze hopefully worth four or five points. Our best hope here.

Someone get the camera man a towel

Sound

Unbelievable score from Paddy O’Donovan.

An even better score from Brian Hannan for C/K.

14-8.

Nickie has gone off. Huge blow to Effin.

Blood sub?

18-9 to Effin. Starting to open the shoulders out now.
